After two years of buying a digital railcard, I thought I would buy a plastic Network Railcard this time as I didn't need to travel for another week and you get an extra week validity if ordering a plastic railcard. Typical luck, it hasn't arrived yet after five working days. The instructions are

"If your don't receive your Railcard within five working days, you can notify us by logging in to your online Railcard account, and selecting 'Replace your Railcard'. Alternatively, you can contact the Railcard Help Team at railcardhelp@nationalrail.co.uk or call us on 0345 3000 250 between 7am-10pm, every day (except Christmas Day)."

If I report it now, and the first card arrives tomorrow, do I have to wait until the second card arrives or will the first card be valid?

They are mere plastic cards, so even if you end up with two, they are both valid.

When I renewed my 3-year senior railcard recently, it took the full five working days to arrive. Previous cards were delivered the next day.

And (OT) they didn't send me a reminder to renew. It's not surprising we're seeing so many passengers with discounted tickest and no valid railcard.

My experience is that an increasing number of automated messages are being blocked at the server level so they don't even see your spam folder. You need a positive confirmation that a reminder was sent or not sent before assigning blame.
