There was once a Washington station in the U.K. Closed 1963. Located in Washington, Tyne & Wear, up in the North East, which town was the ancestral home of George Washington's family.Doubtful Washington (DC, or state) is. Suspect that both were named after George Washington. But I agree that it's unlikely that Washington, West Sussex was named after Washington, DC ! (Unlike Pennsylvania, Avon...)
Also would that count anyway? I don't think there is a Washington station in the UK is there?
(The Washington placenames in the United States are indeed named after the first U.S. president).
