Margate has two to offer. The lesser is Tivoli station, which was never in timetables and was only served by specials. It was there to serve the Tivoli Gardens, which were named after similar pleasure gardens in Paris, in turn named after a town outside Rome.
The town's main station, the one that exists today, has had four names over the years and one of them is Margate Buenos Ayres. Buenos Ayres really is the name of a street in Margate. Whether it was a fanciful attempt to portray Margate as exotic and Spanish, or whether it was for some reason named after the city in Argentina, is unknown.
