Yeah, I received another email from the recruitment team on Friday, saying they the job was still live and they were progressing with applications. I assume it’s a blanket email to those who have got to this stage (NI/waiting assessments) so will wait and see. In the meantime I am going to practice the assessments
Exact same email as me then, thank you! That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, regardless il just keep doing a bit at a time each day just to keep everything fresh! Good luck for when you hear something xxx

What website are you getting your practice material from? Tried looking online but I can't seem to find any, I have found the dot test but nothing else?

Does anyone have an email address for recruitment that is still used? Not sure if I have the right one. I applied July last year and I’m still keeping everything crossed after people being asked last week for NI numbers!

I ordered books from Amazon that has practise material in that was recommended to me by a few that I know who has passed their assessments and gone on to be drivers, just search train driver books and a few will come up

Personally, I would just wait for an email to come through as going by the last email I had it said they were experiencing delays due to the government guidelines and covid and they are great full for the patience while they are still processing everything, also that the roles are still live. If you haven’t had a rejection email then you’re still in the game and no news is good news

Hiya. Good luck on getting this far.
the questions are basically the experiences you’ve had, they will read the question and what you answered and just ask you to go into more detail about the situation.
It seems daunting but once you’re in there you will relax, the woman I had was really nice. Hope this helps and good luck

Thanks for the reply!

maybe it will be the lady I had for my paper assessments she was lovely

I remember 4 of the questions and answers and have been revising them using the STAR method so I’ve got them nailed! I don’t think I put very good answers for the other 2 but fingers crossed and thanks

If you’re answers are on experiences you’ve had then you will be fine soon as they are read out. It’s very relaxed. Health and safety is paramount, so stress that loads that you follow them to the tee and deliver excellent customer services skills etc. When is you’re MMI?

TFW recruiting again for Trainee Drivers for Holyhead depot. Presume because they've lost a couple to the recent Avanti WC recruitment there. Did anyone apply last year but still not heard anything? If so give them a shout.

Im from Wolves and have applied for Shrewsbury or Crewe but considering asking to be included in Holyhead recruitment too now. But do they allow for relocation applications in the must live within 1 hour rule?

TfW is one hour rule. I'd only ever move if that's what you really wanted for your life. Not something you decided on a whim to get your keys. It's a long way out from your way. But that's just my opinion of course.

Yes I’m aware of the one hour rule, I was wondering if they allow for you to relocate before training?
It’s no whim, Wolverhampton isn’t Vegas the decision is quite easy haha!

It may or may not be related to Avanti - there are also s few older drivers at Holyhead who might be closer to retirement, and there's also a general expansion of traincrew numbers across the network.

I believe they have become more strict on the one hour rule of late, and there is a history of people being less than honest about their life plans when making applications for that particular depot, so I would be sceptical about your chances of success - but the only way you'll find out for definite is if you try.

Hello,

I have had an email from Laura asking if I can do the ‘paper tests’ next week. What is she referring too? I have done lots of research but can’t differentiate between paper and computer tests. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks xx

Paper tests are the group bourden, TEA-occ test, dials test and the mmi questions where you have to write a brief answer that they will then ask you about in the MMI interview, there should be an attachment to the email with practise papers x

No worries, you too! I’m booked in for Wednesday but she hasn’t given me a time or place yet apart from saying it will be in Cardiff city center! Have you been given a time or place? X

Guess those of us from the last round with Acorn now have our answer.
Are Acorn still involved does anyone know. There seems to be a good few waiting to hear something. My last update was March

Does anyone know if anyone has ever got to the talent pool for TfW, but then is never actually offered a job? Or been in the talent pool for 2 years and had to resit the assessments?
I've read a few of your posts so just wanted to say I'm in a similar position to you. I went into the talent pool in September 2020 after initially applying in January 2019. I'm down for Cardiff and Carmarthen depots. I sent an email in December asking for an update and was told someone would be in touch shortly but nothing further yet. It is a little unnerving when you see others being offered a training place before you but I'm sitting tight and hoping once covid restrictions are further eased I may get another update. I did read in this forum about someone who didn't get offered a position after sitting in the talent pool for two years. The rail operator advertised for trainee drivers a few days after their two years were up so they re-applied, went through the whole process again and were successful

For info, I believe you can sit in the talent pool for up to 3 years now.

Can I ask please, what tests exactly you did? I can find practice material for the group bourdon test, but not the others. Are you able to point me in the right direction please? X

Do you find out on the day with the paper and computer tests if you’ve passed or failed?
Paper assessments I found out a few days later via email, computer assessments you find out on the day and then are taken for your MMI if you’ve passed

you’ll be sent all the practise material which is all you’ll need to prepare for it when you’ve been given a date
