PAs and PIS's on the Rivera Line

Hi

I'm going from Salisbury to Paignton this Saturday, so has there been any changes in announcements, departure screens and Help Points since my last visit for the Dawlish air show 2010. So whats changed at the following stations?

EXETER
Central,
St Davids.

Dawlish,
Teignmouth,
Newton,
Torquay,
Paignton.

P.S Can I use my FOSS rover from Salisbury to Honiton and then buy a return from Honiton to Paignton from the guard? And have extra the 150/1s arrived at FGW yet and whats going on the the 142s?

Not a lot; the wording of a couple of announcements has been changed and the voice of the help points is now different. This is all set to change in the next few months as a new system is being introduced. (If the FCC installation is anything to go by, it will be a complete disaster).

I think a good few 150s have already arrived, with more coming very shortly - the 142s are staying for now until the unit cascade caused by the new London Midland 172s (which are not yet built).

I think all of the /1s are at FGW now. 172s have been failing a lot though, the line was closed due to lack of units I heard recently hock:

All, with the exception of 150128, of the former ex LOROL/Sliverlink 150/1s are now with First Great Western - with 150120 & 150123 recently seen in traffic...

Meaning, FGW now has 150120,121,123,127,129,130 & 131 On it's books, with 121&127 having been lightly 'refreshed'.

As for the possibility of seeing any of the ex LOROL 150s in the Exeter area, i believe the ex ‘famous five’ are running from St Phillips Marsh depot at the moment – except of course, 150121 & 127…

I know Annes been on the help points for a while, and I noticed a Dawlish AirShow 2010, Ruth kept announcing this: "The train now approaching platform x does not stop. Please stand clear from the edge of platform x. Stand well clear from the platform edge please."

150 128 is working on the Gospel Oak - Barking line tonight ( 28th ) in the evening peak; it will be moved tomorrow morning ( small hours I believe ) to Tyseley for overhaul before joining FGW.
