Went for scrap at Wye Metals Hereford, circa Sept last year. The other 2 ex-Northern units, 012 & 079 went there from Landore in early October: IMG_20201005_133923.jpg

142006 which is the last TFW 142 not yet gone for scrap has a new home but where is not in the public domain at this stage

143601 and 143622 which had been taken to Landore to create room at Canton when the January 25th COVID service reductions moved back to Canton today.

The Valley lines timetable goes back to what it was before the last round of cuts on Monday so presumably some Pacers will be back out from then.

Seeing as more (older, who would more likely take trains to and from) schoolchildren resume on Monday, that's a good move.

Both the timetable uplift and the reinstatement of some Pacers.

Can't believe Wales got some things so right during the pandemic which England didn't (though obviously both nations made errors along the way).

It looks as if they will see some more service before withdrawal as TFW are increasing their Cardiff Valley services next week.

Here's TfW's press release today, marking the end of Pacers on the Welsh network. Shame the 'larger, more modern trains' that have replaced them only come out when they feel like it (just one 769, out of a potential 9, is in service today), but that's for another thread.

Transport for Wales has said goodbye to the last Pacer trains after more than 30 years of service, marking the end of an era for Britain’s railways.

The final Class 143 trains - 143601 and 143609 - ran their last services on the South Wales valleys network on Saturday 29 May, having operated the equivalent of over five trips to the Moon and back during their working lives.

The Pacers have now been replaced by larger, more modern trains with better accessibility. TfW is also pressing ahead with building brand new trains for the Wales and Borders network and the South Wales Metro, which will begin to enter service in 2022.

TfW began withdrawing its Pacers back in December 2020. However, not all of them are heading for the scrapyard. One Pacer has already been donated to the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway in Carmarthenshire, and several more will be donated to heritage railways and community projects over the coming weeks.

Just as an extra I videoed a few trains passing Heath Junction and actually videoed the train Geoff was on! This is my 55 seconds at Heath on YouTube.
