They've started stacking services behind eachother, the train at the county end of the platform is cleaned and prepared between piccadilly and the airport, and the one behind it on site, but I've seen them turning them round in 3 minutes at MIA, I know there are now 3 platforms, but platform 1 (the new one) is generally used by the electrics, so sees 3/hour, so I'd say 4/hr on each of the other ones, remembering aswell most of these are technically intercity turnrounds.

Or one of the eastern platforms at piccadilly in the peak, turning round for the rose hill, sheffeild, TPE North, and Glossop Lines...

My first thought was Manchester Airport.

However 1,2 and to some extent 3 to handle a lot of services and can also be stacked a lot of the time. Not sure what the figures are but Platform 2 always strikes me as being the busiest of the lot.

Manchester Airport has to be in with a shout, especially as it's complicated by different long-distance trains having different turnarounds

The reason for this thread is that I had an idea which involved Cannon Street in London dealing with eighteen arrivals/ departures per hour on a strict "interval" service (three clock face ten minute services) and I didn't know whether a seven platform station would be suitable.

Chester is already half hourly?

I think you mean quarter-hourly?
Besides, Kirkby and Ormskirk already do 4TPH onto one platform.

Liverpool Central wirral line deals with a train every 5 mins, and the northern line platforms cant be far off that either.

I wasn't replying to the person who was talking about the Wirral Line, I was just adding to the discussion. He wasn't talking about Liverpool Central at all as it happens.

West Croydon? 6tph and three platforms, but don't know how they are spread between platforms.

The overground trains arrive on the sutton bound platform, move empty to a middle siding just outside the station, then re-enter the main London bound platform when they're ready. Thus the station isn't actually a terminus for them. The bay platform turns round Southern trains but there aren't as many of them now the Overground has taken some of their paths.

Working round the clockface with actual arrival times from experience, these tend to vary greatly from the actual timetable...

xx:00 Lancaster (Barrow/Scotland) arrives at xx-1:47 to xx-1:50 onto platform 2a
xx:03 Southport arrives and is stacked infront of the NCL train to be mentioned on 3b, comes in immediatly behind the Lancaster
xx:05 Newcastle arrives off Middlesbrough just before the Lancaster and parks in 3a
xx:11 Manchester Piccadilly Stopper off Crewe/Wilmslow uses 1b and stacks infront of the same service in the opersite direction for crewe, usually arrives 3min previously, if late, this is somtimes directed onto 2a
xx:17 Wilmslow/Crewe, comes in at xx:05-09 and gets stuck in platform 1a by the xx:11 to Piccadilly
xx:29 to Blackpool North arrives at xx:20-23 usually 3b unless it's been extended to 6 coaches then it can be slotted onto 2b same deal as the other TPE N and TPE NW services, usually parking infront of the...
xx:35 to Middlesbrough arriving at xx:17-20 having to wait for the xx:17 MAN to leave
xx:41 to Liverpool Lime St. arrives ahead of the Middlesbrough at xx:14-17ish uses 2a
xx:46 to Piccadilly Stopper, can use either 1b (parking infront of the cleethorpes service that used to call all stations) or 3a, depending on what time it gets pathed into the airport
xx:55 Cleethorpes runs infront of the stopper down the airport line and behind it out, has about a 35min turnround, usually arriving after the WML/CWE service vacates Pt.1a arriving approx xx:18-25
