No probs - yes going to see it, or even getting on it, at Mkt Harboro would I would think be no problem. A good idea - then when you arrive at St P, walk to the back of the train, plenty of time to look at power car etc and watch it leave for depot etc, then you can leave the platform in your own time.

Not sure what you mean. Never seen EMR do them and I've been on 6 HSTs in / out St P last few days. Tho they are saying they may ask people to queue before boarding at St P to get on on Saturday so is this what you mean? One solution would be to board elsewhere other than St P of course, for where that is possible. So if they ask people to queue I assume that the sooner you are there the sooner you are towards the front of said queue.

38.5 years after having my first HST ride from Luton I'm pleased I've made my final HST ride on a London service on 1B63 from Nottingham ending where I started all those years ago at Luton!
Interesting to observe ordinary passengers boarding at Nottingham wondering what the fuss was on P7 with loads of staff around and enthusiasts taking loads of photos. Many people spotted taking photos lineside throughout the journey so the InterCity 125 has left a lasting impression with the public.
Good atmosphere on-board.
Luton station has not changed much - I'll reserve comment for politeness.
Hope all goes well for tomorrow with no technical incidents or other disruption.
Farewell InterCity 125 - you're still the best!

You can purchase a ticket on the remaining HST's from EMR. No indication that the trains are sold out yet. EMR have not been applying any reservations to any services. You have not been able to reserve a seat on any EMR service.
Just a warning that due to the cup final - passengers advised to travel before 20:00 from St Pancras northbound to miss the footie fans. and a warning that social distancing may be impossible to implement (Leicester vs Chelsea cup final at Wembley)
EMR are doing 'counted place' reservations only.

Oh as in it says on your ticket you are booked for the xx:xx service with no official seat reservation? That would make sense as it was what was on my ticket last week.

Not sure what is meant by this. EMR suspended reservations in about March/April 2020 at start of covid and have not had any since on any services AFAIK. You just sit where you like 1st come 1st served, socailly distanced from the next person as far as you or they feel comfortable. They sell quotas of Advance discounted fares on specific trains but you get no seat allocation. And they have not got such fares on last HSTs for the obvious reasosn (I assume) that they do not need to discount any fares to sell seats.

It only says that if you have an 'Advance' ticket - but as they have not released them for the HST operated last day(s) AFAIK it will not apply on your ticket - you will, I expect, be buying an Off Peak ticket that has validity on any train. So for example today I went to the station, confirmed the HST was in the platform by looking, went to Ticket machine and bought ticket, got on train (albeit this was not an intermediate station). There was no system to restrict access or numbers boarding - nor any need to do so since there was plenty of space on train. But EMR website (as per link below) does say they will have queus if required for gateline at St P for HST departures, so that may prevent some boarding if demand is heavy.
If you want to get on a southbound train in the morning however, I doubt there will be any system in place to prevent it, but I suppose it is theoretically possible. I suspect baording northbound at stations other than St P is likley to be feasible to do too.

Farewell HST125. Not quite sure what all the fuss is about as it’s not a huge surprise that these units are moving on to less glamorous things or being withdrawn completely.
Will I miss them? Yep! I’d much rather be on one of them if the Meridian is the alternative. Would I go out of my way to say I was on one of the last journeys on a particular line? Nope, too much other stuff in life for that. Do I feel emotionally attached to them? Yes, absolutely. I travelled extensively on them as a punter, I commissioned some of them, I did drive one once, I worked on them, I built them, I designed some of the refurbs and I avoided them to take loco hauled services when I was younger. I will miss them and that warm feeling when I wait on the platform and I see that familiar face arriving. Incredible service and longevity. BREL in its finest hours.

They have been applying reservations - I got counted place reservations on both an advance and a First Super Off Peak Return. I recommend anyone trying to get on the HST get one, in case they prioritise who gets to actually travel. Capacity is low due to social distancing rules.

I know East Midlands Railway are not making any announcements at to last HST runs, but i think if all goes according to plan last runs would be the Leeds which would be 18.34 from St Pancras-Leeds via Nottingham & 20.02 St Pancras-Leeds via Derby.
Added complications that it's FA Cup final day too & Leicester City are in it & Wembley is having limited spectators at the final.

I think that 1B28 0740 Leeds to St Pancras International has 5 standard class carriages today. And yes, the guard has made an announcement about window hanging.
I'm on it. Train being flipped at Sheffield, taking the back lines out if the station

The plan was no HSTs in the new timetable - which starts sunday 16th. So I would expect today to be the last day (or planned to be the last day).
As of tomorrow, there are not Saturday or Sunday EMR services serving Leeds (I.e. Neville Hill) - from Monday to Friday it becomes the afternoon return working only.
By chance I saw the southbound run go past (very slowly!) when I was out for a walk yesterday evening, no one hanging out of windows and plenty of space on the train.
Belated thanks for this. In the end, I bought a ticket to Luton. Helpfully it left from P1 and the 1434 HST from P2 so I was able to get a good look. Looked like train reasonably busy with enthusiasts and a fair few milling around on platform. Got a short video of 43102 leaving (at rear) which is the one I came to see. Uneventful trip up to Luton and back on the Thameslink. First day out on trains since September, good to do so.I'd be tempted to aim for the 14.34 from St P (if starting from the southern end of the line) on the basis that services will get busier in general later in the day, which from what Optima says it will be on - as you can see it's non stop to Mkt Harboro. I'm not sure if it runs through any stations on the route esp slowly. St P is not really a great place to see them as access to platforms is restricted and the view from the other side of the barrier line is not very good (even if 43102 was at the buffer stop end that is)

But if it might be crowded (no idea on that) I suppose the option is to go earlier to Mkt Harboro or Leicester and join the train there.

The services from Monday at Leeds are 1F56 ex St Pancras and 1C02 to Derby.
They don't work on or off Neville Hill, so should be 222.
