Merseyrail 507's/508's

Looking at the photos it's very similar to previous fires. I'm sure a southern 313 sufferer a similar fire a few months back.

I would expect it to be repaired assuming the internal damage isn't worse than previous fires.

Southern's 313220 suffered a far worse fire which burnt a hole in the bodyside late last year but that one returned to service a few weeks back.

No worries and no sign of 010 must be undergoing overhaul or major exam! From where I was at West Kirkby I only saw 507018 but 120 could be there too

I had the pleasure of riding the Class 507/508 on Merseyrail probably 2013 if my memory serves me right. Aren't they similar to the Class 313?
Whilst I'm looking forward to the Class 777 I'm going to miss the old ones.

Yeah they are a similar design to the 313.

IIRC Same compressor as a 507, different to a 508 which has two.

As far as I know they were only up here for testing and guaging etc prior to the 507s being delivered.

The 313 as a unit class wasn't taken up because Merseyrail didn't require the OHLE and third rail capabilities they possess. To all intents and purposes, the 507 is the exact same train but without a pantograph. The 508s are slightly different again, because as it's already been mentioned, they have two compressors because they were originally built as (temporary) four car units.

Yep re 507003 repairs are progressing, it’s a big job, but not as such that it won’t see it return to action soon.

IIRC Same compressor as a 507, different to a 508 which has two.

The 313s have a different compressor which IIRC is identical to the old 1967 Victoria Line stock; it's a slightly different 'buzz' sound from the 507s. The 314s and 507s share the same compressor type, while the 315s and 508s use recycled Westinghouse compressors from previously withdrawn stock.

507033 was my train into work this morning, working with 507008 (Southport line) so it is active at present.

Any expansion of existing Merseyrail services is likely to be battery powered. The long awaited trial will hopefully take place this summer.
