Bolton - Hull - split ticket possible?

I need to travel from Bolton to Hull.

Is it possible to get split ticket fare in this route?

if possible, could you share the details?

Are you returning the same day?

Through fares are:
CDR £32.80 (By any train at or after 0930 - no restriction at weekends)
SVR £38.00 (By any train. Return within 1 month)

Splitting in Manchester won't help; the CDR fare from Manchester was abolished (it's cheaper to buy from Bolton and 'start short'!) and the SVR is only 70p cheaper!

If you don't mind being tied to specific trains, TPE do Advance fares. If you have a 16-25 railcard then you can get them half price. If you are over 55 then Club 55 may be of use.

More information is needed before we can give good advice.

Do you have dates/times of travelling, is it just 1 person? any railcards? etc...

Also you've not actually stated if you want a single or a return. The fares I quoted above are walk-on returns with no railcards.

We (2 adults & 1 child) are planning to make week end travel. Same day return. We hold 'Family and friends' rail card. We are not having any specific dates in mind.J

For through Bolton - Hull tickets the Off-Peak Day Return (CDR) with Family & Friends Railcard cost is:

2 adults @ 21.60 = 43.20
1 child @ 6.20
Total £49.40

I'm not able to find a cheaper fare by splitting at any of the intermediate calling points.

if you travel through hebden bridge on your way up, you can reduce the fare to this

Bolton - Littleborough £5.40
Littleborough - Leeds £12.10
Leeds - Hull £25.85

total £43.35



all fares above are cheap day rtns with railcard discount for 2adults and 1 child...

journey times from bolton to hull on a saturday via this route are 3hr 55mins with two changes.

with your last journey back from hull @ 1956 to bolton..
