Not going to happen though, service registration has to be completed a month before commencement.

Indeed unless there is a way of launching emergency services. I am told you don't have to register a service if it is a Private Hire contract, so, in theory SC could could run private hire contracts to Sellafield. I'm not sure how dodgy this is lol ;)

been told that Reays have 7 60 reg buses on their new services in Carlisle, along with a single 57 reg. i will be in Carlisle myself on monday to see what is going on.

quick summary of the "competition" so far:
* Stagecoach Carlisle Citi DayRider £2.90. Reays DailyHopper £2.95
* Stagecoach Carlisle Citi Megarider £9.50. Reays WeeklyHopper Ticket £8.95. (if you're wanting to travel after 6pm, then you'd better get Stagecoach, cos Reays don't run any evening slots, and their tickets are not valid on Stagecoach services).
* Stagecoach services running with 38 seat Darts. Reays running with 28 seat Plaxton Primo's
* Stagecoach Carlisle Citi running between up to every 7 minutes and up to every 20 minutes. Reays half hourly (63 & 64) and hourly on contracted 75.
* Reays have longer routes, but timetabled to take the same journey length as Stagecoach (? i'm confused with that as well). Reays have 50 minutes timetabled for Morton Park - Morton West - Sandsfield Park - Bellevue - Cumberland Infirmary (why hospital patients would want to go to ASDA i have no idea) - City Centre - St Anns Hill - Lowry Hill - Kingstown Broadway - ASDA. whilst Stagecoach have timetabled 50 minutes for Morton Park - Denton Holme - City Centre - Lowry hill - ASDA.

potential passengers have already been commenting on the length of Reays services, saying they should take more direct routes, as passengers from Botcherby (Botherby according to Reays) going to Cumberland Infirmary don't want to trail around Harraby East, Harraby and Upperby when they could take more direct routes on Stagecoach (albeit with a bus change along the way).

The 63 runs both ways round the Botcherby - Harraby - Upperby loop, so there is a Reays bus every 30 minutes direct (well, the same as Stagecoach 76) into town, and then on to the Infirmary. What the 63 and 64 are doing is giving many parts of the city direct links to the Infirmary.

having the 63 nunbered as 63 regardless of the direction taken around the loop is a bit strange, especially as they leave West Tower Street within 5 minutes of each other.

main point was if they missed the more direct one to Cumberland Infirmary, they'd have to get the next one, which would drag them around those areas, or wait 30 minutes for the next more direct one.

having it numbered 63 on both circles is a bit odd, don't think Reays have thought of calling them 63 and 63A

It looks like 14202 and 14208 are the only 142xx J-HFR leyland olympians still in service.

14199 still on the go as well at Kendal.
14202 was given an extended stay after 14260 partially de-roofed itself. its thought it will be withdrawn later in the year when a Trident moves up for 554, if one definately does move up!

I forgot about 14199, it might either 17019 which is already withdrawn and/or 17022 that will probably be withdrawn when 15679 comes back from Wales and they down for prepping for repaint.

Great, could be both go to CE. Carlisle run some 300's so would be handy to have another Trident around so they could operate it 100% LF.

Glad 16185 is getting an engine. Imagine it will go to Preston when its finished.

18008 still hanging around!

16655 looks well and truly dead lol!

18008 has a water leak that is why it's hanging around and i have noticed in the upstairs front windows is where they keep the cctv screen and the carlisle bodylads have been down this week to take the dashboard and o/s corner out for 16338.

Considering how much of 16655 was used on other buses at least it totally didn't go to waste :)

14208-cab window
16294-N/S window
16338-O/S corner and dashboard
16659-N/S corner
16660-Rear Axle
16666-Front Bumper
16667-Gearbox
I think the other window went into another volvo, the seats are on the balcony and the engine is still in the bodyshop.

22805 limped into stand 12 before failing completely while working a 4. Inspectors looking in the engine with torches, so not a simple fault I assume.

16660 sat on stand 16 (unusual), and the windscreen repair peoples van was park on the North side as well....

18366s turbo sounding ill on 556, other than that, not a lot.

Spotted this on the beeb website looks like an ex Bullocks/Manchester bus.
The L.E.D blinds on the 04 plates solo's are mobi-tec's and i dont think they will be changing them yet as they use a company from oldham to repair them if anything goes wrong unlike the Hanovers that are made down south.

What a nasty accident!!!

Ahhhhhh I see! I hope they do some work on those solos soon they are looking tatty :(
