Hello , hope you are all well , I'd like to ask about the miniscaat test, I have downloaded the practice material, and would like to ask , when i do the actual test how many target shapes are we expected to cross out in the required time?, I know it is as much as you can but what is the benchmark , half ? or more etc .. thankyou
There’s quite a lot of lines to get through. More than 25 I would say. Like the group bourdon, you need to pass at least half way through with very good accuracy. If you wizz to the bottom but have missed loads or clicked the wrong one, you will fail. Same if you don’t get down the page quick enough. It’s difficult to describe any different to how others have mentioned on.... but I will say, there’s no shapes. (In mine anyway, don’t know if they auto renew for each candidate so we can’t describe it for others lol) mine were just selecting between Upper and Lower case letters. The 3rd test I had to pick out an upper case letter (which was constant) whilst also picking the first letter of each line.

I’m gutted as during my mini scaat my wireless mouse died! I did really good on the 1st and 3rd tasks but the 2nd task I defo failed due to having to quickly grab my wired mouse and plug it in! I lost about 20-30 seconds
Is there anyway I can request a resit... or should I just consider it a major stupid mistake for using a wired mouse and not being better prepared... I’m pretty sure 1 & 3 I managed near perfect accuracy and almost finished the page. 2 was horrific in speed

I found the test online way harder than on paper. I couldn't click fast enough. Still waiting on an answer... Either way if I pass I'll be practicing online rather than on paper.

Same here, it felt slower than on paper. I did scroll down couple of times, but I don't remember if I was close to the end of the page. Only time will tell now.

This was said in the email I received before the miniSCAAT :

"Please ensure that you read the OPC Guidance Notes and the Mini Scaat instructions carefully before you start as I will not be able to reset any online tests."

Sorry about that ! :|

Noooooo don't give up hope yet! I think a lot of us felt rubbish after that test. So much harder on the computer :(
Defo not passing... missed most of 2nd section because stupid mouse died! I was on a desktop so couldn’t do anything until other mouse plugged in and registered... maybe I’ll be very lucky and the 1st and third test can drag me through... positive thinking

Well it sounds like your other two were better than mine so it's not over til it's over. Def positive thinking.

As @Vola_c said, don't give up yet. Until we receive news from the TOC, anything is possible as we have no clue what their pass mark is. To be honest, I felt good right after the test, but slowly, slowly, I'm starting to overthink it and question myself if I've done enough . We need to keep calm, think positive and wait for the "Congratulations" email ;)

I feel exactly the same! Thought I'd done ok but now I'm doubting. Tomorrow is a new day though ...

It’s defo a flop... mouse cut out and I lost half the time... no way will it be good enough as I was flustered finishing then... it is what it is. I’m sure everyone did as good as possible. I’m sure there will be other chances. Plus there’s plenty of other tocs

Hi all

I made an account just to reply to this thread lol, I applied for this on the 9th and haven’t heard anything like many others however I’m also female, bame, (they said in the application they are especially encouraging applications from women and bame people) internal with GTR and have completed the psychometric tests with another toc to national standard about a year and a half ago. I applied for all 3 and got a straight no from southern as I’m way out the 60 mins but haven’t heard anything from thameslink or GN. Do you think I should contact recruitment or wait it out?? Scared of being lost in the sift as they seem to have selected people already.

There are a few others who haven't heard still so you're not alone. Wait it out and I'm sure you'll hear back soon.

Hi. I think you should wait like everyone else. Although they encourage applications from a particular demographic, I would hope that you still need to meet the same standard in the tests. I'm sure you'll hear back soon

Come join the club @Jay_Southern , we have milk and cookies ;). Still, it's good to know that assessment days are already booked and the process is going ahead, it does give a bit of hope that it might not take years. Fingers crossed !

Hi Chuchu,
Sorry to hear you got a 'no' email today, as well as myself. Gutting email! Do you think it's possible to get a yes from GN or TL? The email stated that we would have to wait a min. of 6 months before applying for a similar role with GTR.
