Putting Cadder to one side - do we still have the situation, due to lack of provision of shore supplies, of one power car being left idling e.g. at Inverness to avoid a cold restart?

Oh yes still happens when in platform the rear powercar stays on while front is powered off same at all terminal stations. Inverness should have shore supply's fitted in sidings now I believe? Not sure if I dreamt that or what but I believed that was installed when they remodelled the sidings next to the depot

Ah, right. Thanks. I remembered that there was supposed to be stabling somewhere else but for some reason drew a blank on Perth. I don't know this for fact, but I suspect that the delivery delays meant that Cadder became available for the stabling site, which would then make the future Perth remodelling easier and less disruptive.
Plans were drawn up and rail and sleepers bought for Perth which was NR's preferred choice as it also solved the issues with stabling of units in Perth itself (which will still need to be resolved prior to any major works at Perth itself) but TS (well one senior individual in TS) refused to sign off on the project. Cadder was very much a last minute fudge and is not a long term solution.

Ah, Transport Scotland and project management failures, we're getting a few of those at the moment. It all makes sense now.

The current livery is 11 years old now and I remember going on 170434 back in 2009 when the Livery was rolled out. If Scotrail plans to change the Livery anytime soon or after March 2022 when the new Franchise Starts- the HST Livery I think would suit all the other Rolling Stock they have. Any idea what the new Franchise has planned up for HST's or any other Stock... better yet who is set to operate Scotrail?

Isn't the livery dependant upon TS?

It also wont be a franchise too. Certainly franchising in England is now dead, and I can see Transport Scotland following.

Nobody knows for sure, but the Scottish government has had public control of the railway as a goal for a while. The events of the last year makes it almost certain.

The livery is not getting changed anytime soon. Ever since it was introduced each set that carries it has or will have it repainted and freshly vinyled every few years or sooner.

Franchising has somewhat gave the impression that the railways always need a constant rebrand every few years. But ScotRail and TS were way ahead of the game and kept the branding and livery continuous regardless who runs the franchise - rather than rebranding the franchise after the operator and by default, the livery.

And is there a need to change it? In my view, it still looks fresh, modern and befitting of a decent Scottish railway network.

No need at all. The livery will still be around in the 25 years.

Remember this comment in 2046!
I'll probably remember it if I'm still here by that time. With Transport Scotland being a think and makes me think of SPT. Thier Livery was nice.

Indeed it was meant to run until then but since franchising is effectively dead-in-the-water it'll probably just carry on as an extension of the EMRA (Emergency Recovery Measures Agreement).

Anyway getting a bit off-topic so perhaps a discussion best left for a different thread...

Yes, you're right. So with Scotland now on full Lockdown until February... will the HST sets including the 12 in service Sets... I take it they will be at Haymarket or Perth perhaps. Does Inverness Depot have anything to do with HST's? I'm not sure I've asked that before

Trying to figure out what happened here... Did it encounter issues between Carrbridge and Slochd and then get held there to let the Chieftan past?

Tracksy shows it in the loop at Tomatin, at 2230. Might not be 100% up to date but could be an indication of a severe problem.
RTT shows it being due to pass at 1808.

Updated
UPDATE: Our engineer carried out a temporary repair which has allowed the train to continue to Inverness at a reduced speed without assistance. The 1941 Edinburgh to Inverness is being delayed behind.

Do you mind me asking why Cadder is not a long term solution? I’m not up to date with the logistics of HSTs but the comment itself has intrigued me....

Tracksy now shows 1H15 having left Tomatin. 1H19 as in the section approaching Tomatin presumably now at the signal there.

Think 2008 was when that livery was rolled out.

Has anyone seen 43185 lately? How far have they got with stripping it?
