Is it me, or has the NWM Daytrippers started go onto the new ticket stock that West Midlands Railway have been using.

It is really annoying as the old dedicated CC sized ticket stock was useful when boarding a bus in the West Midlands area, the driver could tell from the colour stock that it was a daytripper.

However I went on a bus the other day and a) the barcode didn't work on the Ticketer machines that the operator used, b) the driver was confused as he had never seen a daytripper on the "bog roll" stock and c) it didn't work the barriers later that day at Birmingham International (it was brought at a WMR station inside the Midlands)

Does anyone know if TfWM approved the change of ticket stock or is it just one of those things the railways are doing to try and annoy everyone without consulting the powers that be at the WMCA (its annoying as well as it won't fit in my nxwm Ticket holder as its too big, yet its too small to fit in a standard National Rail ticket holder)

Also, does anyone know if there is anyway I can get them on the NWM stock without having to resort to going to a NXWM travelcard agent?

I thought they were always printed on standard ticket stock

Do you still have the ticket ? If so can you take a photo or make a scan then upload ? Even better if you can put a credit card size one on dedicated stock along side. I will have one but from some time ago, perhaps even 5 years.

The daytripper had its own ticket stock unless brought out of area or from a TVM

I've never seen that, when I bought one it was the standard orange ticket.

I don't see how it's an issue, travel cards are always printed on orange stock and work perfectly fine

It's sold on all sorts of stock, including a variety of bus ticket stock. Had some funny looks at gatelines trying to get through with a Travel DeCourcey bus ticket with a Daytripper printed on it.

West Midlands are rolling out a new Worldline TIS sounds like it is PRT stock?

Is this only in the West Midlands or on WMT generally? Using bog roll seems rather stupid given the number of outboundary London Travelcards they issue - at some stations (e.g. the south WCML ones) outboundary Travelcards of various types are probably well above 50% of tickets issued.

They are rolling out a TIS which will issue tickets on the appropriate stock, so outboundary travelcards will be on CCST stock.

How does that fit with the government's clear intention to remove CCST stock?

Good. Bog roll "blanks" must be pretty cheap if having two printers saves money! :)
Most TIS have two printers already - a CCST printer and a receipt printer - so there's really no difference. However, PRT stock is rather cheaper than CCST, and environmentally better as it is recyclable.

It's a balance - CCST will be eliminated where possible but, at present, that can't be dome in the London (zones) travel area.

Interesting, I've always thrown CCST into the recycling bin - does the magstripe make it not recyclable, as otherwise it's just card? (Give or take monthly or longer seasons and presumably Gold Cards on the grey bordered stock which used to be laminated and so untearable).

lt's annoying because l shred all my train tickets along with all receipts (except for products purchased with cash and no loyalty card) for security reasons, but will also have bank statements etc in the same shredding bin, so I always forget to empty it and end up contaminating the load.

Bought a Daytripper at New St on 22/12/2020 and it was printed on the normal pre-printed blue CC stock.
Receipt was on the "bog roll" paper as paid by contactless.

Yes the magnetic strip precludes recycling

Guess I'll have to stop putting them in the recycling bin, then! :)

Not according to the LNER website...?

"A common myth is that these cannot be recycled, this is in fact incorrect. Like other papers and cardboard as long as they are clean, used tickets can be placed in the paper recycling stream. The magnetic ink that forms the strip on the back of the ticket separates during the recycling pulping and washing processes."

Surely the stock is 9599 or some similar version. The print layout on it is very non-standard though
The photo of the orange stock hadn’t loaded for me so I took the caption as referring to the dedicated stock!

Ah, ok. So, just to be clear, the info on the LNER website is wrong?

LNER (like most other TOCs) will still be retaining at least some CCST at gatelines - where do they end up?

The orange one? It's a pretty standard Rover layout give or take the little logos at the top (which is itself sort of standard in that it would get the TfL symbol there for a Travelcard).
It's a non-London Area Travelcard layout - not a Rover / Ranger layout.

The Photocard box should not have been printed, as there is no photocard ID to put in it.

The logo is probably fine.
