She obviously does realise this, hence the unequivocal apology, and at least she’s taken ownership of her error, which is more than we’ve seen from Stanley Johnson!

Has Stanley Johnson ever lectured us on wearing masks though?

No, but he provides us with a quite enlightening glimpse into the Johnson family’s attitudes.

About as relevant to his son's job as Nicola Sturgeon's electrician father's opinion on the wiring regulations?

As others have said, I don’t actually care about the actual action she has done here. There is very little risk in having a distanced conversation with others in a setting such as hospitality. But since she’s still mandated masks in these situations, she should have the decency to wear one.
I am concerned about how easily it’ll be brushed under the carpet though. As it’s now Christmas, I don’t think she’ll have another briefing until at least the 28th, by which time the media will likely have forgotten about it, and she’ll avoid any questioning on it.

Hasn't Boris sent his Dad off on official government business before now? If so, I'd say his behaviour is very relevant.

Unless she or someone else at the event tests positive.

Funny that she did not realise the error until the media picked up on it.

When they did she recalled it perfectly.:D

I do not think any adult child, politician or not, is responsible for the actions of their parents. Stanley may not help Boris with what he does, but he is an adult making his own choices, which many on here seem to champion, even when it is against government recommendation or law.

Now that would be a positive development!

Seriously, though, does anyone think for one minute that if the BTP tackled someone on, say, a Merseyrail train, who was not wearing a mask, and they said, ‘oh sorry, I forgot’ instead of ‘I am exempt’, BTP would say ‘ok’ and leave?

Except that several months in and I have yet to see btp tackle anyone whatsoever. Btw I'm not saying they should or shouldn't.

Quite frankly I consider that all high profile people including elite sports types, politicians, royalty, TV, newspaper, doctors and other leaders in media etc should be given immediate mandatory 7 days in prison. They are setting the bad example and other people think if its OK for them it's OK for us.
High profile individuals are under no obligation to set examples to others and nor should they be.

But high profile people who make these rules up should at least stick to them?
Agree on the others though, I actually hate to see people on TV in masks in settings where they're not required e.g. outdoors.
