To be honest though Covid or no Covid it's basic politeness to wait until someone has passed on a narrow pavement. The snarky comment was uncalled for.
Get a grip, who said it was narrow pavement???? Making up the gaps to suit your outrage of people interacting. Look where we are going, don't question, don't speak, when is it going to be don't look?

It was a standard pavement about 2.2m wide, since when was it polite to treat me like a leper?

I think you need to get a sense of perspective. We are all sick of petty rules. But consider this. The person you've been rude to has probably believed all the rubbish they've been fed by the media, and is now absolutely terrified. Now you've had a go at them. That's not really a very nice thing to do, is it?

Lockdown has caused so many mental health issues for people. Cut them some slack.

If you consider someone saying "I'm not going to kill you" as a result of YOUR actions to them as an issue then I would say they and you are the ones that need to get some perspective. Sorry.

There are demographics where Covid presents a genuinely high risk. Do you deny this?

If not, what if she was in such a demographic herself, or lived with someone who did?

If (like me) you are anti restrictions, you should be pro people taking their own choices to shield and protect. That’s my 2p...

I am taking plenty of precautions, I'm no denier. There are precautions and there is hysteria. If we don't question the hysteria we are complicit and part of the problem.

I agree that exaggerated moves outside are hysteria, and I’ve had people do it to me and had the same thought; the problem however is that you’re suggesting it’s not a matter of personal responsibility for how people (under or over) react to the virus, and followed to its conclusion that is in fact a wish for governments, health authorities and society pressure to decide how we all should behave. I’d suggest you really really don’t want that!

I just find it interesting how the defensive actions aren't questioned in the same way the reaction to the actions is. Happy days

I’m not sure that’s true actually. If someone barked at you for not wearing a mask (for example), I’d be fully on your side!

Its more of a trajectory thing, these are the little steps that lead us to the big things.

It appears Sturgeon is now planning to ban crossing the border from Scotland to England. What is it going to be next.

(Source:BBC news live feed)
Ms Sturgeon says she is taking action to prevent things getting worse, potentially very quickly.

She says failing to act quickly is always a mistake.

Ms Sturgeon says there will be a strict travel ban between Scotland and the rest of the UK, right throughout the Christmas period.

"That means people from Scotland not visiting other parts of the UK and vice versa," she says.

Cross-border travel for all but the most essential purposes is not permitted, she says.

The position on international travel is being considered.

Yes - everything a hardcore nationalist wanted. And, "level 4" restrictions nationwide from 26th December for a period of 3 weeks, reviewed after 2. Absolutely ludicrous.

On the subject of cash, the cash machines on York station have signs saying that they are covid-free because the money has been quarantined.

Presumably nobody has considered that if there is a (miniscule) risk, it comes mostly from the buttons on the machines...

Everything is covid free bar the people who have developed it having picked up the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The same thing occurred to me regarding supermarkets today. They are heavily promoting the app or self scan handsets but then everyone has to press the same touch screen at the checkout! They don't wipe the screens between customers. Whilst some of the on screen buttons will be in different places for different customers, the majority will press the credit/debit card button and the yes/no for a receipt is always in the same place. Not that any of this bothers me but it shows how futile it is.

Not planning to ban - did ban. Unless covered by an exception travel from Scotland to/from England, Wales an NI was outlawed on the 2nd November

At Manchester Piccadilly, on the eastbound Metrolink platform, there is a visible door reading "Do not enter when closed". If the door is closed, we could not enter anyway!

Sounds like Northern Ireland are doing a Wales but somewhat more strict. Even essential shops will have to close by 8pm
That seems a bit counter intuitive. If I have to go shopping (I try not to!), I tend to go late at night when it is less busy. If you restrict opening hours, presumably you just end up with more people in the store at any one time.

Having read into it a little more, I think it may be just between Christmas and New Year rather than longer term. It is a while since I read the article and have slept (ish) since then :p

Visitors from wales and tier 4 areas are now being told to self-isolate under new restrictions. Even if they test negative.

People travelling from tier-four areas to other parts of England are being asked to "assume" they have the new strain of coronavirus and self-isolate.
Health officials said anyone who has come from a tier-four area or Wales to parts of the West Midlands and North West should stay at home for 10 days.
No visitors are allowed to a house where someone is isolating, even on Christmas Day, the statement said.
People who test negative are also being told to self-isolate.

Looks suspiciously like petty retaliation against those who got out of London.

Either way, it lacks logic - reducing the opening hours will just lead to it being busier while it is open.

Didn't work in Hereford (tier 1 for probably about ten more minutes) - apparently loads of Welsh folk streamed into the city off the trains at the weekend. Long queues to get into Wetherspoons, which is five minutes walk from the station. We now have 72 more new cases than the same period last week :'(. Whether it's related or too soon to be I don't know, but not good news either way.

CostCo has decided it will no longer recognize exemptions from wearing of face coverings (other than the minimum age) with effect from tomorrow.

I guess they think they are, otherwise they wouldn’t have done it.

They continue to accept visors/shields in England (these having been outlawed in Scotland in August).

It may be that they feel they are protected by section 15 (1) (b) of the Equality Act 2010 (unfavourable treatment being a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim).

Anyone feeling sufficiently aggrieved by the rule could take the matter to court.
