DLR Extension to Stratford Int. via different route.

According to THIS MAP there is a DLR Extention opening to Stratford Int. via:

• Star Lane
• West Ham
• Abbey Road
• Stratford High Street
• Stratford
• Stratford Int.

It also says opening in 2010 - any Ideas when?

According to this "Summer" with testing starting next month. Most of the route runs along the ex North London Line alignment between Canning Town and Stratford, alongside the Jubilee Line. Services will run to Woolwich and Beckton- slightly unfortunate situation at Canning town that the platforms are quite separate, meaning the next eastbound train to where you're going could go from either part of the station- but then, frequencies on the existing routes will be maintained I believe, so there's no actual loss.

This will be a great extension, giving Becket & Woolwich Arsenal - Canning Town more trains without running more into London. Like what Stratford - Lewisham does

Part of the reason for this link is to provide a new axis for the DLR without putting pressure on the Delta junction (the triangle junction between West India Dock, Poplar and Limehouse).

As for opening date, well the contract says it has to be open by the end of 2010. Unusually this extension isn't going to be open as soon as and work has slowed down. So TfL initial dates of summer 2010has come and gone. They were expecting testing to take place in May but its not started yet.

Expect the full opening just in time for Christmas this year but late november seems likely for a soft launch as with the Lewisham and Woolwich extensions.

Intersting that page claims not to have been updated since January, but it now says "Autumn"

When I was down a few weeks ago, the system looks almost ready in places, and others, there were huge holes where the ground didn't seems ready for even the ballast

Yesterday, went to Stratford International station to have a nose around. Asked staff there who said DLR extention would open "autumn". Does anyone have more a accurate date ?

Just confirmed by TfL it will not open until Jan 2011. Test running to commence 'in October'...

I think most of us can live with January. A little late but not too behind schedule. Incidently the London Reconnections blog has photos from inside the new Met stock with a TfL line map clearly displaying the Stratford International-Canning Town extension. No doubt these will be covered by stickers very soon.
