The 360s have Grammer E3000 seats - which are actually pretty decent and a current model, so if they wanted consistency they could just put them in the 170s.

In 3+2 formation, though, which needs changing to 2+2. This would require building replacement frames/supports/armrests - or just buy new, as it's easier.

The parts will all be modular though, so the seat frames would all be reusable - the cost of those alone would be considerable.

Why are they replacing the seats on the 170s? The Chapman ones in those are fine (apart from lack of legroom, which isn't the fault of the actual seats). It's IEPs which are the issue - if they have the same seats as all the existing fleets then they will be unpleasant.

The Scotrail HST first class is just the GWR interior with new seat covers and carpets!

I know it is, yet somehow the I7C Interior feels and looks better than the GWR Version & the other iterations of it.... Hence why I said it feels classier and is the best FC Going.

The replacement of the seats in the 170s has already been covered a few posts back. This is because EMR will be inheriting a mixture of 170s with different seats - Chapman from ScotRail, potentially Southern & anyone else, and Lazzerini from West Midlands Railway. They will still have to convert / modify their interiors accordingly, so it does make sense to replace the whole lot.

I'd have said the GWR looked better with the green on the headrest and tabletops, but it's all a matter of opinion! The only other variant is the buffets in the 6-car EMR HSTs.

The showing a 170 with different seating instead of the ones they're actually talking about does seem misleading, hopefully if it is a mistake they will issue a correction if prompted, else it would appear to be on purpose.

The [360/1] seat backs aren’t reusable though. The way the tables and arms pivot from a lump welded on the frame is completely different on the 2+2 seat compared to the 3+2 seat.

I know, that's why I said 'frames', not 'frames and shells'.

Does it? Those look ike Fainsa Sophia first class seats to me.
They look like the same type of seats as on the 745 first class to me, which is a modified Fisa seat. Could be wrong though.

Having looked a little closer, it doesn't really look like either to me, it's hard to say. It's too 'artist impression' to really gleam which model of seat it is.

The main interior image you see is of a Class 170, which are getting LEANs. I believe the 810s are getting a version of the dreaded Fainsa Sophia though.
the first class seats you see are for the 810s are are LEANs

Which in fairness, is a product that no longer exists on any GWR service.

Yes, but not not sure what point you are making? That refurbishement was done by GWR, and is probably the best first class interior of recent decades.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are still finalising the standard 810 interior, and have completed the designs for the 170 refurbishment. Although I'd agree, it does feel a little bit cheeky showing the 810 First Class and the 170 Standard Class in a video for the 810s. Though it does indeed give us a strong flavour of what the EMR interior's will look like. What is also nice to see, is the ridiculous wall / first seat issue which plagues the 80X fleet is considerably reduced on these.

Given that the 80x have First Class spaced windows, not aligning the seats to them is just lazy, TBH.

The latest aurora design video is out, talking about cleanliness and how the interiors have been designed with cleanliness in mind (touch of irony in there given the current state of the IC fleet!)

It does have an actual interior shot of what appears to be the 810s though based on that awful cheap looking dot matrix PIS that Hitachi use at around 58 seconds in.

I'll defer to one of the forums seat recognition experts to say what those are, but they don't look much like the seats seen in other 80x to date to my eye :s

Then again, there's an awful lot of table seats in that render, far more than I'd think possible given the sort of seat numbers specified

Certainly looks smart to me. I like the different colours on the seats. The dark bases hide dirt nicely, whilst higher up the pale colours help make it more airy.

The render also shows a full colour screen in use. Presumably the green dot matrix is the only screen available with the AT300 as standard, and if you want better, you need a secondary display as they've opted to use.

What are those seats? They don't look familiar - and they're definitely not F*insa S*phias! (They also don't look like FISA LEANs)

Do they intend to have all-tables in Standard, or is that figurative?

All in all, they seem to be thinking about things rather more than most TOCs ever do. "Dirt trapping" is a very common issue on trains, and even fellow Abellio TOC WMT seems to have specced moquette that definitely is "wearing out" only a few months in.

The number of tables and very unfamiliar looking seats are why I'm a bit doubtful if it is a proper interior render or just 'generic interior with EMR finished applied'. I think they'd struggle with an all table layout given that they're supposed to seat 268 passengers in standard - it's 22 seats down on the standard capacity of a GWR 802 and with even more first class which I think gives a fairly good approximation of the layout they'll have (minus a few seats in each vehicle to accommodate the shorter length)

The fact it doesn't look like any model we recognise makes me suspect that is indeed the case. I'm going to assume Sophias unless we explicitly hear otherwise from an industry source.

No disrespect to DG design but I feel EMR are definitely 'playing up' the cleanliness aspect as if they are somehow responding to the current Covid situation.
