Yeah it means a lot to me and I'm a bit baffled by how quick it's all happened so I am very very interested to see what they saw in me that warranted such a quick rejection!

We will see anyway. The only positive will be if it's not classed as one of my fails

Well, I've still to receive any word from First about the outcome of my interview. I emailed on Thursday due to becoming aware that my internet provider had had some technical issues on Monday and Tuesday with their email service, so was concerned that perhaps an email from them had got lost in this problem. Received a reply from First's recruitment people quite promptly saying that had not yet received my results, and would be in touch in due course once these are received. Meanwhile time is marching on and I understand the start date is fixed at 25th October! :( Not leaving a lot of leeway by the time the remaining assessments, medical, references, notice periods, etc. are taken into account! Fingers are remaining crossed at this time! :D

I was told that the Resourcing Manager had been on holiday this past week and that's why I hadn't recieved any feedback yet.

To be honest, I'm not sure I want to hear what they've got to say anyway. It'll be along the lines (pardon the pun...) of, "Look mate, you were crap, whichever way you dress it up. Don't bother applying again because it's a waste of your time, and more importantly, ours! First Group out."

Oh, well, STILL no contact from First following my interview a fortnight ago today for Trainee Train Driver with First Transpennine Express. Also, as has happened to others from what I see, when I logged into the HRSmart system this morning I find that the status on my oldest application, that for Trainee Conductor with First Scotrail at Wick, has suddenly and mysteriously changed to 'Failed - Shortlisting' although I've had no email to inform me of this. To be honest it was expected after the amount of time it has been since the closing date for applications! However, it would be courteous to at the least receive an email, especially as they say this is what will happen at all stages.

When I was unemployed, it was my experience that applications were usually acknowledged automatically when applying on line, but that was usually the alst communication I had. This applied to railway and non railway jobs. I applied for a few jobs with ATW by post, and never heard anything at all. At least First have a way of checking on the status of your application, with ATW it was just wait and see or ring up and be fobbed off!

TBH, withe the amount of job applications all companies everywhere must be getting at the moment, I doubt they could afford the resource tos end an individual letter or email to everyone who doesn't progress beyond the first stage sift, no matter what they say.

I still cant understand the inconsistencies, I got an e-mail within 48 hours saying I had failed.... still waiting to see what it was I did so badly wrong with.

Some people have already been and failed the assessment part 2 and some people are still waiting to hear if they have failed or passed.

I think it depends where you were interviewed, Manchester interviews seem to have been dealt with quicker.

I dunno I still think if your left waiting it could mean your through and they are booking assessments.

I found out straight away that I failed the interview stage.

Good luck again and hope the wait is worth it.

more than likely the resourcing department are waiting on results from first transpennine.

That's what their email said last Thursday. Just keep waiting and hoping, though the fingers are starting to hurt from keeping them crossed for a fortnight.

Just to update - now three weeks since interview and still no word from FTPE. I continue to wait patiently and hope that in this case silence is a good sign. Surely, if I'd been unsuccessful they'd have decided and let me know by now? Fingers still crossed - hope I'll be able to get them straightened out again! Any spare prayers any of you may have would still be appreciated! :D

Just thought ide register to let you know youre not alone mate, three weeks since i did the interview.i contacted first group who said they are awaiting info from ftpe about alloting slots for next stage......i assumed it to mean ide gotten past the last part but who knows lol

Time will tell, oct 25th is still quite far off so plenty of time to slot in the last parts and squeeze in a medical!

Thanks Candie. Yeah, that's pretty much what I'd figured, but still the uncertainty is unsettling. Plus, like I've said before, I understand the start is fixed as 25th Oct, but that means if successful I have to give my notice to present employer three weeks tomorrow at the latest! Not that much time for getting in the last parts and medical, especially if like others they're at Doncaster! Still, I keep holding. Best wishes and good luck to you too.

Received today at 15:15:
Further to your interview for Trainee Train Driver [First TransPennine Express] position with First, we have now received the results from the interviewing manager involved and unfortunately you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.

We would like to thank you for your interest in the above role and wish you every success in the future.

Waited nearly five weeks for that. :(

Ah well, chin up and keep trying.

Sorry to hear it mate :(

I was very excited for you I thought you had got there. That's the exact e-mail I got too.

I asked for feedback weeks ago and after 3 reminders to HR I got the following.....

you interviewed very well and scored highly,
however on this occasion unfortunately other candidates scored slightly
higher than yourself.

That sounds pretty standard to me, not very specific.

Chin up anyway and we will get there!

Reading all the new new reply`s each week never ceases to amaze me.With the posts regarding the Manchester Drivers positions, some guys were told more or less within days they had failed while others had to wait five weeks to be told the same thing ? or is it now a case of the positions have been cancelled ? As i know from my own experience not to believe a word from the HRsmart web site.
