Apart from the fact that schools are bubbled in groups much, much less than 1000.
Umm! Not really!
At the sixth form in my local village, they are all in groups of more than six and not wearing masks. The village and station is packed full of students hardly any are following the guidelines. With face masks or social distanceing
It makes me scared to leave the house to visit the village is the students just don't seem to get it.

Still not 1000 of them all together, no doubt.

I don't believe in those conspiracy theory's im afraid!
I've have witnessed it with my own eyes.

Is it a conspiracy theory that Covid kills a tiny, tiny proportion of those it infects, and poses a negligible risk to most people?

Perhaps you’d better never leave the house again.

It does very much feel like this is the 'lockdown on fun'. you can still work, or go to school, but don't you dare do anything enjoyable.

Did I mention conspiracy theories? I don't believe in those either.

I'm assuming you're a young person (under 40)?

If I'm wrong then I apologise. If not I think you need to get on with enjoying your life, because it's too short to spend many years of worrying about a minor illness which hardly kills anyone.

That's not the point!
Here's the thing, Covid is a serious issue. My of my friend who is young and not that much older than me has had covid and was seriously ill. Covid is not something to make fun off. I perfectly capable of going to the shops in my village. However sometimes there comes a point where you need to stop thinking about yourself, stop thinking about types of trains you want to go on and start thinking about other people around you with weaken immune systems!

I'm not arsed about going on trains. I want to go to the pub. With other people who want to go to the pub. We are all aware of the risks and have made our own risk assessment.

First of all, I’m very sorry to hear that your friend suffered so badly from this awful disease. I can completely understand why this has influenced your views on the subject.

Whilst I completely understand how difficult that must be, please understand that your friend was extremely unlucky to have suffered like this, and the number of people who do end up seriously ill from this virus is extremely small compared to the number who contract it. That’s why I, and many others, are supporting a more voluntary and proportionate response to this crisis. Those who are vulnerable or feel the need to shield should be fully able and compensated to do so, however none of these “mandated” laws which are based off of evidenceless assumptions are doing society any good.

In our local secondary school of nearly 1400 there have been no cases so think you need to get a pinch of reality here.

If people start making up their own risk assessment then we have got no chance of defeating this virus!!

The idea that we can defeat this thing through government-mandated personal sacrifice is delusional. Over the last few months we've sacrificed everything that makes life worth living, with many supporting forcing massive changes to the lives of others for a long time yet; and I do not think that what we're getting in return is worth that cost.

Without wanting to sound flippant thus us true of many illnesses, lots get flu and gave no long lasting effects but some do. It is sad when people suffer but it is reality and life isn't fair. People with weakened immune systems should be taking care at all times and not just now. Afraid we can't keep expecting everyone to do things because we have ailment A or B or whatever. May sound harsh but that is reality.

We have no chance of defeating this virus, the idea that we can control this is a delusion from childish minds that don't realise that unfortunately, people do die.

Yes it is the point. You’re irrationally terrified of something that poses a smaller risk to you than many other things in your everyday life.

Here's the thing, Covid is a serious issue. My of my friend who is young and not that much older than me (under 40) has had covid and was seriously ill.

And I know someone whose arm was broken by a swan.

Can you honestly not understand the concept of statistical outliers? There are some young healthy people who die of flu every year, so do you mask up to protect yourself from flu?

There are many more young/healthy people killed or disabled in road accidents. Do you never travel by car?

However sometimes there comes a point where you need to stop thinking about yourself, stop thinking about types of trains you want to go on and start thinking about other people around you with weaken immune systems!

What a load of rubbish! If you want to stay indoors, you do so, I’ll be going about my life (not that that involves thinking about trains constantly).

I dosn't take much to keep yourself safe and follow the guidance!

The guidelines change weekly and are nonsensical so no, I won’t be following them. I’m statistically “safe” whether or not I catch Covid.

Can we change 'do things' to 'make massive changes to their normal way of life, and personal sacrifices against their will'

True.
But secondary school's have much more control than sixth form's and university's.
Our college sixth form has had a number of cases already.
Bit they still hang around in large groups outside of school, point is they're not the big scary transmitters that people have them labelled as. Anyone could have it and it might be the middle aged person you stopped and chatted to in the street whilst avoiding a big group of teenagers. If you are concerned need to have your eye on the ball.

It's not my job to make you believe whether its important or not.
I just wish people could be more understanding of others and not just about what are opinion of Covid is!

Face coverings are (sensibly) not mandatory outdoors, nor are they mandatory on open-air station platforms (provided your village is in England). Social distancing is guidance, not law (unless you are in Wales).

The risk of transmission outdoors is marginal compared to that of a poorly ventilated, crowded indoor venue (e.g. a house party).

You cannot 'defeat' this virus.

Not only are the victim of scaremongering, you are also reading too many false hope stories.

In Asia they were masks! Hence why the virus is under control. In the UK we are so fussy about all the basic guidelines hence the mess we are in!!

I agree, was being a little bit too gentle with that one.

Can you please actually address the points I’ve raised above? Do you lock yourself up at home ever winter to avoid flu? Do you never travel by car because of the risk of car crash?

If the answer to the above is “no” then your approach to Covid is inconsistent and you’re being irrational. But if you want to keep doing everything Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings tell you, that’s your choice. Others will take a different approach.

No it isn't under control, afraid you are unsure how viruses circulate if you think a) they have it under control and b) it's due to masks. We've been over this numerous times. I do have a science background so whilst I may not be a virologist I am able to research and find things out using numerous sources (some if which may not say what I'd like them to say but if substantiated have to accept them).

“They” wear masks in the U.K., America and many parts of Europe, too. Is the virus under control in these places?!
