Surprised anyone can make out the Livery on the Meridian fleet. Used them quite a lot recently, and they are absolutely caked in filth externally. What on earth has gone wrong?

Looking at the EMR fleet on.my travels today most trains are dirtier than normal but that's to be expected at this time of year.

The Meridians though are exceptionally bad. I understand that there is s hard working team at Derby handwashing a set or two each day but EMR desperately need to get a carriage washer or more people on the job. Serious management failings.

I would hope that any extra cleaning resource would be put on cleaning the insides rather than the outsides in the present situation.

By my reckoning, EMR will not have enough 170s now the route will stay. The options may be, 158s remain, 175 or 185 class move over to EMR or a deal is done for more 170s.

158s seem most likely - don't think there are any 170s available, 185s have issues with diferential speed limits due to their weight (and are there enough spare anyway?). 175s won't be available for a while.

They have an issue with differential speed limits, however they're identically timed from Stockport to Sheffield AFAIK, and there isn't much in the way of Sprinter differentials between Sheffield and Nottingham to slow them down there. It's been suggested elsewhere that 185s will be coming by someone 'on the inside'
