Hello,

I am doing the above journey in a few months time (1st Class) and i'm wondering which way to go would be the best value for money.

Virgin Trains to Edinburgh Waverley
East Coast to Aberdeen

Cross Country to Newcastle/Edinburgh Waverley
East Coast to Aberdeen

Also, with an Off-Peak 1st Class can I get access to any 1st class lounges??? (if so which?)

It will permit entry into Virgin's Lounge at New St, ScotRails & East Coasts at Waverley plus any others along the route.

There are no Birmingham - Aberdeen Off-Peak First Class fares.

Did you mean Advance First Class tickets? If so, they admit to some First Class Lounges, an entry fee is chargeed for some and they don't admit to others. See What you get for First Class on rail-britain's site.

There are no Birmingham - Aberdeen Off-Peak First Class fares.

There's no off-peak single, but there's certainly a return. £292.10 First off-peak return, restriction 2V so not valid before 0930 mon-fri. More than £200 cheaper than the £499 First anytime returnhock:

Depending on how old you are of course, look out for the occasional "Club 55" promotions in Scotland. This July and August £27 1st class return fares were available in Scotland on the Glasgow/Edinburgh-Aberdeen route.

Booking ahead it's usually quite easy to get a single 1st class fare Birminghamdinburgh for under £60
