In my experience, Google is unable to explore my department's internal intranet.

Are you, perhaps, thinking of the various cards that are issued to members of the CSMA or CSSC? Because those aren't the civil service, any more than the AA is all motorists. They're organisations that civil servants can pay to join.

It doesn't need to "explore your departments intranet" I'm not talking about the CSMA or the CSSC.its called my lifestyle is provided by edenred limited under contract to the civil service or the crown commercial service on behalf of the civil service. .

This bits not easy to google: the cost of providing these schemes based on foi requests to other public sector operators who use them is between £1 million - £5 million often they are bundled together with other recognition schemes like long service rewards and rewards for exemplary contributions to the organisation.

The company charges for the infrastructure to provide these discounts not the discounts themselves. To avoid benefit in kind taxes

I have been informed that a Veterans Railcard is being introduced as of 1st October. £30 a year with a £9 discount for the 1st year available until the end of March. Not sure how we will have to prove we are Veterans.

No, a Family & Friends railcard allows up to three other adults rather than just one as this one appears to. Looks like someone's being careful to maintain the rule that no two railcards have identical terms and conditions!

Edit: I must correct myself; the Devon & Cornwall Railcard also allows up to 1 accompanying adult and/or up to 4 children. But it's only valid in Devon & Cornwall so obviously not exactly the same terms and conditions.

Thanks. It doesn't really shock me that much given their attitude towards rover and ranger tickets, certainly in the earlier days.

The key differences being that it can be bought online or by post, and the ability to take an accompanying Adult with you (though it's unclear whether they have to be named like on the Family & Friends and Two Together Railcards or not).

Yes indeed, I mean I was joking when I said there was a rule that no two railcards can have the same terms and conditions but by including subtle little twists in the rules like this (i.e. that an accompanying adult is only allowed if named on the card) it would really make you think somebody somewhere is doing their best to keep it confusing!

Got Safeguarded Travel mate. Just seems odd that the railway looks after others, before its own. And its been taken up with Union and Company for around 17 years to no avail.

A new starter with NR cannot get "Safeguarded Travel". I worked for them for 10 years and couldn't get it either.
