My wife and I will be travelling around the South west on rover tickets for 14 days. I cant find anything on the above Toc's above about the rules about seat reservations.
1] Do I have to get a reservation/allocation on every train I get.
2]Do I have I have to book in advance or when we travel.
If anyone has anymore advice please post back.
I do have allocation tickets both ways from where I live.

With crosscountry you can use the 10 min reservation which worked well for me yesterday.
with GWR only London trains effectively need a reservation, however nobody has checked mine on any trains. These can be obtained on Twitter if you use that.

hope that helps

You are asked to get reservations on all services where they're available, but they're not compulsory on any train in the south-west, despite the mixed messaging.

You can get reservations at ticket offices, through the relevant TOC's customer services (most easily via Twitter in most cases), or for XC through their text-message TMR service.

Just as before the pandemic, if a service is exceptionally busy then you may be unable to travel on it without a reservation (albeit you would be able to claim delay compensation if you were sufficiently delayed as a result). But this is very rare at present. The only difference is that the threshold for "exceptionally busy" is now somewhat lower than it would have been half a year ago.
