Scenic lines in West Wales?

Can anyone tell me if there are any stretches of line in west Wales that are particularly scenic? I'll be staying near Tenby middle of next month and whilst I'm there if there's any stretches of line that are particularly scenic I'd like to give them a ride.

I know Llanelli to Carmarthen is supposed to be particularly scenic along the coastal stretches, but what about west of Carmarthen? I'm thinking towards Tenby and onto Pembroke? Or any other of the west Wales branches?

I'd say that the line is generally very pleasant but with no real jaw-dropping areas. The section between Carmarthen and Llanelli is probably the best for views as it looks over the estuary, and of course that view changes significantly with the tide.

I live in Cardiff but I've never been further west than Swansea by train. I'll definitely try to do Llanelli to Carmarthen, then at least one of the branches further west.

Tenby to Pembroke, bus across the estuary (looks like 356 to Milford Haven Tesco, by the station, or 349 to Haverfordwest)and complete the circuit via Whitland. Do the Fishguard line if the timetable allows.
Fishguard-St David's-Newgale-Haverfordwest is a lovely bus journey (T11) and St David's is worth a stop-off. Don't know if all that is possible in one day with current timetables.
The "main line" Haverfordwest-Whitland-Carmarthen is the least interesting stretch scenically, but still nice.

They are pleasant, but lack the really dramatic scenery perhaps seen on some other lines. The coastal section you mention certainly ticks the boxes if that’s what floats the boat.

The Fishguard line was a forest of leaves when we went on it last year, though perhaps there’s been some vegetation removal since after a mishap where a train hit a branch.

The Central Wales line is probably the most scenic in the area if that’s the primary motivation, though not until beyond about Llandeilo.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I'm only there for 3 full days and I'll be with my parents, who aren't as enthusiastic about rail travel as me. So I just want to do the best of the west Wales lines for views/scenery whilst I'm there.

All the Branches had vegetation clearance last year which entailed weekly closures.

I went on the Fishguard Harbour branch in darkness, the Milford branch as the sun was rising and Pembroke Dock branch in good sunshine. If I could re-do it, I'd have done the Fishguard branch in daytime.
