I wonder if flat cloth was cheaper. Northens are now paying the price for someone's misguided choice.
K

Apparently flat cloth is a bit of a pain to clean and wears more easily.

It’s the same price as the moquette, in fact just a little bit more money.

And yes, it was a pain to clean but stained cushions are being looked after better than before. They were hoovered most nights but are dry clean only.

The Long Marston is reported as 350111 on the 350/1 refurbishment thread, nothing to do with Northern

Interesting that this one has jumped ahead of 323225 in returning - problems with re-seating to standard spec, perhaps?

The 9.30 NH to Crewe is running early. Unusually for Newton Heath it's going to Crewe cs XCR rather than Crewe LNWR which is Arriva train care.
XCR has been the usual destination for 158s.

5B42 was a 150/2

Crewe CS (CRS code XCR) & Crewe CS LNWR (now https://www.arrivatc.com/crewe/ which also includes Crewe CS).
Two locations for one area. May be historic or internal railway reasons to separate the carriage sheds and light maintenance from the Heavy maintenance facility.
It's the same place and stock can be moved internally as required.

[northernchris]

Did 204 receive new moquette?

214 did, I was on it yesterday

[158757]

204 has not had new moquette, I had it this week. I don't think moquette changes are done at Crewe for units already refurbished, I believe they are done on depot.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: 23 Aug 2020 ==

Updated lists 23/08/20, corrections welcome. Not much change this week with unit moves mainly just being for CET tank fitment. Any updates on flat cloth/purple moquette to blue moquette changes are welcome, particularly east side and NE units as I don't tend to see these.
