Hello All,

It has been a while since I have been on here but that is because I have been the whirlwind journey that is Trainee Driver Training. It is exhausting! Anyone who says this job is easy needs to have a go and see for themselves how 'easy' it is.

I am on DT8 so in 3 weeks time I will be released on Passenger service under instruction which I cant wait for.

If anyone is thinking about becoming a driver is in the application stage or is just curious as to what we get up to in traing, please feel free to ask me any questions. I am happy to let you know all.

I was so grateful to certain members help whilst I was going through the application stage that I would love to offer something back if I can.... If you need any photos of the new trains at the depots then also let me know as I will be at Willesden Depot all week next week.

Polly

Hi, it's good to hear from you and glad to see you're getting on so well. Hopefully you'll be able to stick around and provide us all with information in some of our other threads and contribute to the discussions!

Well done Polls, I told you it would take over your life for 9 months , but when you climb in that cab and drive (in service) for the first time it is all forgotten and it is the second best feeling in the world.

PS the best feeling in the world is when you drive on your own for the first time ;)

Just curious, will you be driving on the NLL.

I will be driving on the NLL for most of my hours but the last 75 hours will be on the ELL which will be my line when I am fully qualified. My depot is officially the new New Cross Gate Depot.

It certainly has! I have no room in my head for anymore information. I now know thw ins and outs of a 378 and how to fix it if it has any failures, I have had to learn ALL the rules, Signalling, get my head around permissive and single block working and on top of that master driving the train!... oh and lets not forget that I have to memorise all the routes backwards and forwards. eek. I need a new head to fit it all in lol.... I cannot WAIT to get out driving though.
