Is this set flying under the radar or somethin', as I'm surprised to see that there are no pictures posted yet. :p

That was probably 91111, I can't remember why but it was repainted into EC livery sometime ago.

Edit: Maybe not that was repainted into NXEC not EC.

You'll find most reliveries are done on the scheduled repaint. hence when a new TOC takes over you usually get one or two trains revinyled (not repainted) for the launch and nothing happens for a while before they then work through the main fleet when stock becomes due for repaint.

I wonder if it was like that back in the old days too. For example, on the first day of BR, were their still locos running around with the Big Four company's names on their tenders?

Probably not, suspect they'd have de-branded them prior to handover, British Railways fleetnames may have been added, but certainly there would have been stuff running around in LMS/GWR/Southern/LNER colours for a while.

I saw a set at the yard at Doncaster the other day. I am sure it was a carriage with no paint on just the metal which was silver but it had the East Coast logo on in a dark purple

I saw this too, although they weren't parked as a set. It looked more like they'd been shunted around, uncoupled and then just been dumped anywhere that was convenient.

The first thing I thought when I saw it, was "how the hell are they going to keep that clean?" :| Wouldn't these fast, long-distance trains be better in a darker colour ala GNER? Surely white/silver shows the filth worse than anything?!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

I love the white skirt under the cab. INTERCITY 'Swallow' anyone? ;)

EC have been managing to keep the white on their trains fairly white of late. Lets not forget the last years of GNER and that of NX things had a habit of not getting fixed due to lack of cash! I think the washers are now fixed and NL were doing manual washing of sets more frequently than normal!

At one point just after the takeover of EC ISS cleaners were cleaning doors, the sides of the doors and the white stripes! On several occassions they cleaned the entire side of the HST's!

This MK4 set has been in for some time but it's gone in for more than just a paint job! It's having 'dilapidation' work carried out so the set should be returned to service as if new!

It's all silver, with dark blue or dark grey doors - similar to the HST's but not the same colours. The branding on the side is exactly the same as the HST's and is in the same place. www.eastcoast.co.uk / EAST COAST / www.eastcoast.co.uk on the side.

It looked like the set was in full formation today and ready to leave.

White and silver liveries actually keep reasonably clean between May and October
The main issue is in the Autumn from the dirt of degrading leaves

The next issue for the Winter and Spring is that precipitation is often snow which does not "clean" a train like it does in the Summer
As the snow lies dirt accumulates on the surface, which then blows back as a train passes over it (and it is the same on roads)
As a result the vehicle surface retains the dirt
Finally, vehicle cleaners are often frozen, so instead of a daily clean the vehicle may go for some time without a clean...

If you knew it wasn't finished, then the point in your post was...?

To state who bland it looks without branding

May I ask the point of your post in criticising my post apart from to fill every-bodies in-boxes with spam??

But he's not filling anyone's inboxes. To do that, he would have to PM everyone. >_>

Well its not finished is it
All the photos I have seen are at least two weeks old, the RSB, and the ones above appear to be even older

I have now found out the reason for the main delay was the lack of spare SIG bogies, as each set is being completed in turn (rather than the usual method of swapping with sets aready refurbished)
As can be seen the DVT has also now had those fitted, hence why the coaches kept moving about, the last to be fitted was a TSO which was completed two weeks
The new CCTV system however ran into an issue
Set BN20 has now been signed off as complete

It is highly likely to be moved to Bounds Green, so that the next set can be taken out of service for refurbishment (and should be quicker now that the first set has been completed)
I've been trying to find out if there is going to be a specific loco, but it looks more like just a Class 91 will be used

Why would it fill up your inbox with spam? Most liveries would look bland without vinyls over it

Has anyone seen 91125 in the last 7 days?
It looks it suffered quite a lot of failures in April 2010, so it may the loco residing at the back of Wabtec (also in Silver Streak livery)

That doesn't even make sense.

There is an option in the User CP that means once you've posted in a thread you get email notifications as soon as someone replies to that thread. I would guess that is what Crossforth is referring to.

Sitting in Doncaster West Yd attached to some Virgin ronnie this evening, looking finished, all over silver with dark grey doors and a thin purple stripe. No doubt be some phots from the residents if you look for them.
