Burkett, could you mock-up the DLR in the same way but substitute the red front and doors for the same shade of turquoise as the DLR roundel. You could also add a thin turquoise line above the blue skirt. This would be how the DLR stock would look if it followed the LO/LU/Tramlink identities.

Thanks. I tried doing a guide to livery photoshopping a while ago, but it got a bit bogged down as there are so many different techniques and things their use depends on. Maybe I'll have another go if people are interested.

@Burkitt do you take requests? if so what if virgin took on some class 180s? or what about some 395s? or even took on some eurostars?

I'd say I take suggestions rather than requests - if someone has an idea I like, there's a good chance I'll do it at some point. But these photoshops take a good few hours to do, so if something doesn't interest me enough I won't want to spend loads of time on it. Generally, I'm most interested in ideas which have a good degree of plausibility - possible future franchise holders or rebrandings, close "might have beens", imagining how the railways would have looked if BR had survived and other things like that, rather than more arbitrary train and livery combinations.

Anyway, Virgin really did lease a pair of 180s for a while before returning them in favour of the 90 + Mk3 Pretandalino, so...

Back in 2005 it was rumoured that SWT's 358s would be transferred to SPT and fitted with pantographs for 25kV AC overhead. Two sets were even said to have been sent to Glasgow for conversion, but in the end nothing came of it.

Suits both of them quite well. I remember some GNER publicity material once, showing a Pendolino in their livery where the yellow continued right up over the top and onto the cab roof. However, I suspect that they would square off the warning panel a bit more, since they were the only company to produce a decent HST panel without the 'apron straps'.

I'm working on a guide to how I do my photoshopping, which should be on my site in a few days. Basically, I do most images from scratch, using the rectangle paths tool to draw the shapes of the livery.

Yep it is (although I had to look at wiki for that one though), it is for the most part an electrostar because it was made by the same people in Derby i believe?

Yes its a guatrain built by Bombardier for South Africa (poor people! )

Interesting. The front end looks a bit like a people carrier, while the back end is a standard Electrostar. I suppose it would deliver Electrostar capacity and Voyager speed. However, I'm not quite sure if the HSE would like it much, there doesn't seem to be much room for protection in front of the driver. Still, an Electrostar/Voyager hybrid, or even just an electric Voyager with a bit more seating capacity, is an excellent idea and I hope someone orders one sooner or later.

I always figured it had a bit of HST front end (of course, not quite as pointy, but otherwise similar in appearance) grafted onto a 170 body. One heck of an unusual love child, isn't it...

You can bet that Network Southeast, with it's flair for style, would have come up with something flashy for the front end if there was no need for yellow fronts: Maybe a really big version of the NSE tri-colour "flash" between the headlight clusters. Always interesting to see pictures like that, of "what if" scenarios.

It's easy with that 465 but I've tried doing a GNER HST and it's really hard to match the hue/saturation

On the Fictitious Liveries website (fictitiousliveries.fotopic.net), there's an image of a yellow-less Virgin HST: It looks sunburnt in my opinion!
