Earlier in June/ July, there appeared to be a 331/0 on Manchester - Stoke diagram and another on a Manchester - Crewe via Stockport diagram.

The Stoke diagram was the one which included the 1644 Manchester - Stoke and the Crewe diagram included the 1701 Manchester - Crewe via Stockport.

I occasionally see these trains at Cheadle Hulme, but two observations in the last 10 days or so have only yielded 323s on these service.

So are there any 331 diagrams that come out through Cheadle Hulme at present or are all the Stokes and Crewes back to 323s again? And if that is the case, anyone know why?

Thank you

The 21:43 Manchester to Stoke is booked 6-car on a Saturday so that will likely be a pair of 331s.

Can't help you any further I'm afraid!

Whilst in lockdown I moved my job temporarily and worked down in Alderley Edge so I got these trains a lot. Both the diagrams starting with 2K30 (06:04 Piccadilly to Crewe) and 2H40 (06:10 Alderley Edge to Piccadilly) were always 323s when I got them, with the diagram starting with 2H41 (06:48 Crewe to Piccadilly) being a 331/0. I'm not sure if this has changed with the July TT change though as I'm now back in my regular job.

I suspect most are being used on the extra Blackpool Manchester Airport trains, 6 units Monday-Saturday since the last timetable change.

Thanks to all who replied.

I lose track of all the timetable changes nowadays, so I guess the last one a couple of weeks ago saw them redeployed to other things. No doubt the Blackpools need strengthening with all those extra punters rushing off to the seaside to enjoy the legendary hospitality of Blackpool North's station staff.. :)

Good one. Blackpool to Airport and Blackpool to Hazel Grove should all be booked 6-car even under normal circumstances when they're both hourly.

The 2K30 1601 Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe was formed of 331027 last Saturday 25/07.
