Replacements for rotted Oly's, coming in just in time for the school summer holidays.... To be fair, i think that might actually be planned, then Chorley can have time to do whatever is required to them in order to make them ready for the new school year.

What's the latest on another 33xxx coming into Chorley to replace 33174, seems odd to replace a bus that was listed as reserve

Oufff No...Nothing will be replacing 33174, that had been due to go for a while it had just " hung " around

The 2 tridents are coming for various reasons, it wont be long before all the volvo's are shipped out, there is no timescale as yet.

Today:

20463 on 55
47021on 49
47247 on 81B
15682, 18326/62 on 40
15680 out of service at the BS
22818 on 2
20133 on X1
25222 and 47728 on 6a
21003 heading dead toward Lancaster from Whitelund
17019 on 5
14196 on 81a
20545 and 16662 on 42
16664 Out of service at the bus station

Also spotted a very old Bon Chaunce double decker causing trouble at the bus station. He pulled up in Damside street blocking traffic including a solo a Tridents and a Travellers solo (think it was KendalKing) He let off half his passengers then set off again and pulled into the bus station pulling into one of the stand but stopping before he was level with the door leaving is back end sticking. Little Dave ran over and escorted passengers off into the bus station.

Wonder what the Bon Chaunce decker was doing in Lancaster. It is an old Leyland Atlantean from Preston Bus - out of the OBV***X series. Usually it is found doing shuttle work round Preston between Uclan campus and the Preston Sports Arena, but as the students have finished for summer, it must be stretching its legs on a Private Hire, but I wouldnt fancy going far on it!!

why are chorley getting them they got rid of a load of tridents before christmas

The fleet of Trident II we had at Chorley were moved within the Northwest to be employed elswhere as we recieved a new fleet of Scaina Enviro's.

Fleet movements happen for a variety of reasons and how and when the company see fit its that simple.

17018/19/22 and 24 are in need of a repaint as they still show the old 'baylink' branding under the stagecoach legals as the others 17017/20/21 and 23 have had repaints or the bottom panels done.

Also i thought i saw 21003 this afternoon in Torrisholme Road, working service 7 at about 3pm, can anyone confirm if it been re-instated.

Looks like the C varient routes will be college runs during the mornings and evenings as its been mentioned that Preston College are loosing the funding for these. The 2B is being re-routed mostly via the 2A route. The X59 having its X dropped and looking like its been extended through to Rishton from Blackburn (as it already serves all stops en-route from Preston - Blackburn a long overdue change). As for the X2 I know of changes in the pipeline, but these are purely rumours that haven't been made public. Not affecting the route as such. Other changes though are planned AFAIK.

Thanks for that!, yes it was me, that was sat behind the old Preston Bus Leyland Atlantean OBV 165X in Damside Street. At one point when I looked in the mirrors I see least six more buses behind me!

When little Dave, told the driver to pull into the Bus station the driver tried to enter the Bus Station via the exit. Later on it brokedown on the southbound side of the Bus Station.

Not stagecoach related, but looks like JB Pickthall have lost the Keswick School contract.
http://www.reays.co.uk/keswickschool.htm

the Keswick School work is privately operated. Reays are running these routes in direct competition with JB Pickthall and Robert Benson Coaches, although, Reays havn't registered the route with VOSA, neither have they registered their Commuter Service for Sellafield. basically, they've got too many buses for work they were getting, finance companies are needing paid, so they're scraping up as much work as they can to get the finance paid!!!

freshly painted 33076 on Annan Town Services today.
24122 on 79, 179 and 379.
14268 on Citi76 when we were passing through Carlisle this evening.
20924 was on 600 this morning, seen on 554 this evening.
16397 was on 554 this morning.
20908 was on 38 this morning, 52409 on this afternoon.

20994, 16734 and 16653 on 300 this morning when we were going towards Carlisle to head to Scotland.
20994 and 20436 on evening 301's, both have in-opt displays!
22598 currently sat on the annexe with its sidelights left on!
47006 going onto 2015 X5 to Cockermouth.
47024 out on Town Evening Services.
20473 done college special 30 this morning.
14234 on 30 and 31, with a B10M i have forgotten ID of.

I wasn't aware of that, I assumed it was a council contract service. I would like to think that the customers of the current operators would show some degree of loyalty, but as we know that rarely happens in "bus wars".
Good look to Pickthalls and Bensons.

Reays aren't very well organised with it at all! they're advertising pick-up points in competition with Pickthall and Benson, advertising the cost at "from £4.00 per day", yet they don't have any routes worked out, and when asked how much it would cost for a potential passenger, they don't actually know how much it would cost!
some of the pick-up points Reays are advertising are covered by 1 of Robert Bensons buses, of which is operated under contract to Cumbria CC. the kids at them stops can either get on Bensons for free, or pay "from £4.00 per day" to go on Reays. i know which i'd be going for!!!

I know someone who is looking to send their child to Keswick School next year, they came to me for advice on which operator to go for. They phoned up Reays, who where unable to give them further information on pick up point, times and prices. As a few of you know, I've travelled to Keswick School for the last seven years (this has now ended!). My last couple of years where spent on Bensons, who I couldn't fault and I got on really well with my regular driver. Reays already run one route into Keswick from Aspatria and Wigton and the poor kids are pushed from pillar to post all the time, the coach is often late collecting them in the afternoon, this is not ideal as the kids have to stand outside in the rain and wait for it to turn up!! Given recent events (coach crash  ) I feel the the existing customers will stick with their current operators. Barry Pickthall provides a reliable service which runs on time and with regular drivers, as do Robert Benson. I doubt the Reays services will even get off the ground, they haven't even been registered with VOSA yet.

I'm guessing the limit is about 15 years? In which case the Tridents will only be around for 4 years lol (assuming they are S reg's). I'm not sure how happy you're going to be when they turn up lol.

is it "000" or "ooo"??? other depots have full size "000"'s on, but Lillyhall's rear flip dots on Solo's and 34616 appears to be the letter o rather than number 0.

Stagecoach North West have made it into this weeks edition of Bus & Coach Buyer.
"Solo's in the Hills"
Link to article

also in this weeks B&CB:

Cumbrian public to shape the future
Residents and businesses in Cumbria are being asked to help shape the future of transport in the county. Cumbria County Council and its partner organisations including District Councils; The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities, passenger transport operators, Natural England, NHS Cumbria and Cumbria Constabulary are preparing a new Local Transport Plan for 2011-2026.
The plan will lay the objectives for Cumbria's roads and transport system for the next 15 years. They want to hear not only from those that use and operate transport in Cumbria but also those that bring visitors to the county.
