Hi everyone, I have recently opened up to my railway side and am now a keen collector, photographer and enthusiast. I live near worcester and regulary visit Abbotswood Junction, Defford Pass and Ashchurch. Does anyone know how I can obtain information about activities on the mainline, from freight to tours and specials. Had many wasted trips!!!

hello fella, if you want freight times the best place is freightmaster, failing that try the yahoo gen groups, there are not that many workings and once you have picked up on the headcodes should be fairly easy to follow, as for tours, try http://www.uksteam.info/index.htm and http://www.railtourinfo.co.uk/, will keep you up to date with whats going on , pm me if you have any problems, origanally from that neck of the woods and was at AWJ at the weekend. should be someone on here with up to date knowledge that can help

This is the link for Freightmaster, the bible for freight times. Apart from that the Yahoo groups are very good (if there is one for that neck of the woods), as these will show special workings and 'live' information. I say live as it is near enough, there seems to be always someone down the line who tells the rest what freight has just passed through their station.

I can call a fdavour in from a friend but I would strongly suggest you consider joining www.freightmaster.net, as you will have the timetables plus access to the forum where you can ask questions.

You can also join this group http://www.headsuptheforum.net/forum.htm

They also have a Gen-Group which is very good a costs a few £ per year but is well worth it. Let me know if you want to contact address.

www.worcesterlocomotivesociety.co.uk is where i always look for info about specials and freight.

Look under Local scene and its all there, dontknow if the freight timetable is up to date but it normally is not all that farout.

I generally go the LC at Eckington when there is something tasty coming as the LC always gives me the heads up.:p:p
