Class 158 153 original BR interiors

Yes until 1994. They got a red first class interior then followed by the National Express refurbishment.

Also in mid/late 1995, 2 units (715 was one of them) got new seat covers in second class. It was a mid blue fabric with little dark blue/red/ orange ScotRail swoosh logos all over if I remember correctly.

Was that the same time the first class section went from 15 seats to 14 or was that NatEx's doing?

I cannot remember to be honest! I just remember it being a big upgrade from what was there.
I think a seat was taken out next to the partition as it banged against the double seat and the springs that returned the door to its "closed" position were never strong so it would swing open/closed constantly.

I've checked my platform 5 and in 2003 units were listed as still having either 14 or 15 first class seats, similar in 2004 so I think it was a NatEx thing

EMR 158s were completely changed by EMT at a refurb.

There is one EMR unit still with the original seats and first class section. I think it was originally a "loan" from another TOC that became permanent?
Had the pleasure of it turning up on a Norwich to Liverpool service last year. Very pleasant it was too.

Former SWT, back when both TOCs were Stagecoach. The first class is original only to SWT, only Scottish 158s had any under BR.
