If 4 or 5 of the 17*** Tridents are off to pastures new, seems a waste putting new LED Blinds in them at ME. Any idea which they will be and where they may be heading - are they being converted to open toppers like the rest of the series in the North West?

That`s what i said, but they are putting them in at morecambe before being transferred out, not sure where they are going though gez might know.

Saw two of the Scanias - One up! One Down! South Road at about half three. They sound quite quiet - Quieter than the fussy newer Tridents anyway. Are they?

All 4 Scania's were out in service on saturday.
They have the L.E.D Blinds for 17018 and 17022 it is like you said time to squeeze them in.
Word of mouth is that 4/5 17xxx tridents will be leaving and the 3 leyland olys(14208 is a defo). Fleet changes might happen over the summer hols.

Very disappointing was hoping they would be staying. I imagine IF they go they will be converted to open top, I think there are some open top Leylands in other regions that need replacing.

Today:

15680 on 40. Very nice to travel in, ride was a bit hard and the heating was going mad when I was sat at the front with four vents in front of me. It reminded me of a Trident to be honest. Anyway very airy and over all very nice indeed.

14196,16668 and 20451 on 55/55a
17017 on 40 as well
22807/24/26 on 2/2a with 17023
16877 on 5
14195 on 42
14253 on D6
16184 on D1. This one doesn't have a rear LED, not sure if 16185 does.
14248 on D1a

Dont know why they are getting rid of a few tridents if they didnt nearly the whole service bus fleet would have been low floor including services which are not now like 5, 55/A, 755, 80 and 42

Not quite. These services are often operated by B10's and Olys. Even if they got rid of 5 Olys and the Leylands they couldn't advertise the above routes as low floors because they could not guarantee that a B10 or one of the remaining Olys will not appear on the services.

Would be much better to take some old Tridents from Manchester rather then us. They have the luxury of having them on Magic bus but we have to send ones we us on public service somewhere else.

Manchester dont even use there tridents all the time and sometimes they dont use the scanias and morecambe use all there low floor buses all the time (unless in repairs)

Well its all swings and roundabouts really. We're looking at this from the outside in. I imagine there could be a very good argument for moving LF's out of Lancastec

Manchester is fleeted fully low floor on standard services to ensure full low floor operation in the city (being the most profitable area, they get the low floor priority).
there is still open top Leylands over Newcastle, and a few in Scotland.

35248 and 47061 on Seaton today.
47062 and 47617 on Harrington, 47062's front LED has packed in yet again!!!
47005 and 47006 on Moorclose.
35247, 35249, 20903 and 14257 on 30 and 31.
20918 short 300.
16447, 16651, 16653 and 16654 on 300.
14234 Staff Shuttle then Whitehaven Schools.
20905, 20913, 20921 and 34079 on Workington Schools.
47007 Staff Shuttles & SL Ltd Contract.
52628, 53336, 53338 and 53339 on TransCumbria.

with all 3 servicable 56 reg Darts in Workington today, i'm guessing Whitehaven was left with the step entrances on low floor routes for a change

The only reason I'm annoyed that the Tridents may move is because I like them (even if they are sheds) and they are low floor. If they do get converted to OT they are rather ideal for it and I'm told that the bench seats and gearboxes make them ideal for city OT routes.

I suppose it could be good for us because the more Olys we have the more likely or easier it is to replace them in one go.

47007 on Staff Shuttle then SL Ltd Contract, an odd one, where all 56 darts (minus 35246) are used - including Seaton meaning, as you said, leaving no dart slf for whitehaven's '2'

Hahah, screw Whitehaven! They hardly ever get step entrances

oh yes couldn't agree more, i'm not bothered by what was in Whitehaven lol just strange to have 47007 doing what it was doing today, when a seaton had a dart  oh well, its stagecoach

20910 and 34616 on 30 and 31.
52628, 20923 and 20435 on Workington Schools.

47007 has a rather bad lean to it which seems to be getting worse!

They are slowly starting to repair it with 16655 donating the front and door for it.

They are using the old L.E.D blind out of 16655 for it and just got a rear blind as well.
