Still three buses lost from Workington Schools. If Calva Bridge is fixed then that will reduce the minibus PVR by one.... but that won't be for a considerable amount of time!

Ex-SgM Trainer at Cowling, been there for a few days and hasn't moved, got a few piccies but haven't got around to getting them off my phone yet.

15566 and 15577 arriving back at Chorley at 7am with two tired looking inspectors and an OM in tow, having had a ride out to Fleetwood at 5am .... for nothing .... Well nothing in the end, the intentions were good though, nice to see things swinging into action in a time of need .. i ended up with 66 on a school run after 16634 was rendered out of action

thats a bit of a kick in the teeth, shocked that they are terminating the contract altogether instead of cutting the service down. As said in the article; 'run for decades by the old Cumberland Motor Services'. Save Sellafield "hundreds of thousands of pounds a year", but will effect Stagecoach quittte a bit!. I wonder what other knock on effects this will have, including what you've said about LL's PVR set to decrease by aprox 10 vehicles. hmm

I got in work this morning and someone said that fleetwood depot had a fire and they had to send some buses down to cover for work and all it was a place near the depot had a fire and the buses couldn`t get back to the depot.
Supposed anyone noticed today that 15679 was the first scania to go out on 40/41`s with 15680 not far behind while 15681/15682 where being used for type training.
Did you know a Alexander volvo engine will not go into a N/C volvo bus??

Spotted 15680 but missed 15679. Saw one heading along Central Drive towards Morecambe Bus Stations on the 000s mid afternoon, didn't see which one.

Just seen 15680 in service on a 40 (I think, it was a Preston anyway) outside Morecambe Library.
A lot quieter than a Trident, and a lot less revs pulling away. And no sooty clous either....

Both 15679 & 15680 have been on 40's & 41's today, while 15681 as seen use on Training duties.

Cuts like these are to become common place now. With huge cuts hitting everyone all companies and everyday people alike are trying to save as much money as possible before it gets really bad next year.

I'm told the PVR for the contract is 10 or so and its mainly B10 operated. One would assume then that LL will lose 10 B10's in September as I imagine the Leylands are still needed...

So the M reg's will be sold on and some of the younger ones could go to KL to replace their M's.

often 10 B10M's plus an oly or 2 that have been on schools as well. should be interesting to see what buses do go though! temporary school contract in Workington finishes in 2 weeks or something, freeing up 3 B10M's, plus the loss of SL Ltd work. other depots could probs be seeing some of our nice shiny ex-Merseyside R-XVM's! i just hope that 20994 doesn't go! it has a much nicer ride than some PS bodied B10M's, and is also tacho'd

in other news, 52629 is up at Carlisle in bodyshop for paint prep.

Lol I'll second that haha. I'm sure it looks great with an LED it just seems a lot of money for something that doesn't even see public service. But then again if its doing proper info duties it would act as signpost I suppose. No branding on it Jonesy?

MAJOR CHANGES TO SERVICES IN CUMBRIA FROM 29 AUGUST 2010

TIMETABLE CHANGES


Barrow Area Changes
5 Barrow - North Scale

The timetable of this Cumbria County Council service is revised, with some journeys withdrawn on schooldays.

6, 6A, X6

This service will have a revised, improved and much simplified timetable. Buses will still operate every 20 mins Monday to Saturday daytimes and there will be no changes to the Sunday timetable. The new X6 service will provide additional fast buses between Ulverston, Croftlands, Barrow and BAe Systems, replacing the old 6S. The school and college day diversions (6B and 6C) via Rating Lane will be discontinued and all buses will now follow the standard 6 or 6A routes. The little used off-peak 6X journeys are withdrawn.

7 Barrow schools and colleges - Askam - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom

These services will be extensively revised to meet the new Cumbria County Council contract commitments from the start of the school term. Buses to John Ruskin School at Coniston and Dowdales School at Dalton, will now be provided by other bus companies.

7A, X7 Barrow - Askam - Ireleth - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom - Haverigg

Unfortunately, we will be withdrawing the majority of the timetable on these routes. Cumbria County Council are investigating the possibilities of providing replacement facilities, including whether to continue with the evening and Sunday buses. Sadly, the quicker rail service, combined with heavily subsidised rail fares, means that the bus is not an attractive option along this corridor and we cannot compete on level terms. More information will be available in a few weeks.

10 Barrow - Ulverston

60 Ulverston - South Ulverston

511 Ulverston - Broughton

All of the above-mentioned Cumbria County Council contracted services will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to other bus companies. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

M1, M2, M3 Millom and Haverigg local services

There will be some additional journeys and we are pleased to announce that these services will be operated with low floor, easy access buses too!

In addition, there will be changes to many school services in the area, affecting 512, 513, 730, 735.

Carlisle Area Changes
71 Carlisle - Anthorn

The timetable will be revised, with some daytime journeys now provided by other operators, under contract to Cumbria County Council.

73, 73A Carlisle - Keswick (Caldbeck Rambler)

Minor timetable revisions.

75A, 91A Carlisle - Caldew School (Dalston)

These services will be combined into one and will no longer be available for general travel. Customers must purchase season tickets in advance, from our ticket agent (Tanzo-Go) on Carlisle bus station.

94, 97 Carlisle - Brampton / Hallbankgate

The timetable will be revised.

95 Carlisle - Brampton

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

101 Carlisle - Rockliffe

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

185 Carlisle - Brampton

The timetable will be revised, with many journeys changing bus operator.

214 Penrith - Carlisle College

Minor timetable revisions to improve reliability.

620 Carlisle - Caldbeck (Wednesday shopper)

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

680 Carlisle - Nenthead

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.
