Is the N159 bus from Croydon reasonable safe to take about 2am in the morning on a Friday or Satuday night?

Around or just below the same danger level as being in Croydon at 2am on a Friday or Saturday night - drunks, vomit, fights, screaming girls arguing, occasional serious violence and so on.

I've used the N159 on a few occasions on Fridays and Saturdays in the other direction from Central London to Croydon at approx 2am and have not found it too bad. On my very limited use of this service I haven't found it any worse than any other night bus at that time of the night. It's generally been full of very sleepy people rather than noisy or violent!

You wouldn't be wrong. Hence, ert47's claim that the N159 may be hard to find in Croydon on Friday and Saturday nights would make for an amusing little laugh on my part. And a large-scale criticism of me by the pro-Arriva members of the board.

(One of the good things about living in Bath - one daily CrossCountry train to Edinburgh at 06:09, and any diverted workings, are all I have to put up with.)

To be totally honest, Arriva isnt bad in London, its just Night buses in general are notoriously unreliable/non-existant.

Yep, looks like the N159 will be no longer come the end of August.

Getting replaced by the N109 (which i swear the N159 replaced in the first place) and an N64

Certainly the 159 replaced the 109 at the London end. The 109 was then terminated at Brixton. This was some time in the mid-90s. Can't vouch for the 'N' versions.

Anymore news on the reinstatement of the N213 between Croydon and Sutton? Or if not,replacing it with another route? One of my friends claims to have heard rumours that they were looking at making the 157 a twenty-four hour service so you'd then be able to travel between Croydon and sutton via Rosehill.
