We would be very happy if you could distribute this important and emotional video for us.

We have been waiting for this moment for a long time and are incredibly happy: From next Wednesday, the trains will roll again and the wonderland will open its gates!

First of all, we start with only 20% utilization. We still don't know if enough visitors will come. Either way, we will continue to make significant losses with so little capacity. We would be all the more pleased to have a beusch.

You can now book the very limited tickets on our website: https://www.miniatur-wunderland.de

Of course it won't be the same as before. Day and night we worked on a solution how to make the exhibition area safe for guests without the visitor experience having to suffer too much. The result is a creative system for compliance with distance rules - the so-called Wunderland road traffic regulations

In a stress test last week, we put the idea through its paces. In this video we show how it was made and Gerrit and Frederik explain it to you in detail. Hopefully soon in Wonderland.

Minatur Wunderland has shown how they plan to reopen next week. The measures include a 20% limit on capacity and from the video linked to above an extensive set of instructions on the floor. An interesting look at how tourist attractions could reopen during this hopefully temporary phase.

I need to go back there. Only managed to clear about one floor in my visit.

Provence / Monaco due in about October I believe. After that, expanding into a second warehouse (via a link bridge) to start on South America and Asia....

Now if they don't run model trains as well over the bridge, they have missed a trick!

There will be no further construction work for now. Even just employing the staff they need to keep the layout running they will be making a loss, so the model builders will stay furloughed for the time being.

I do wonder how many other commercial tourist attractions would be prepared to open under these conditions. At least publically the two founders seem a lot more interested in bringing joy than making money. For instance, for one month a year they usually make paying the entrance fee optional so those that can't afford it can also visit. The state run local history museum in my district has reopened but now has a maximum visitor capacity limit of er... 2.

Some narrow gauge tourist railways have also opened in Germany, no standard gauge ones yet that I know of.

The bridge is still due to be put in later this summer. There will be trains crossing the bridge, the theme being 'the world from above'.

I would love to go at 20% capacity as it was ruined about by the number of people in there when I went.

Great to hear about them reopening. I was wondering how they would cope with reopening, seeing as social distancing would be absolutely impossible if it didn't change how it operated. 20% capacity sounds like the best thing to do really, although I can imagine it will still be a little tricky.
I'm rather gutted I didn't get to go last month, as my tour of Germany was obviously cancelled. I really hope I get to go again one day - I've been once before in 2017. Incidentally, when I was there I saw future plans advertised for a British section. But looking at their website when I was planning my next trip, it looks like this has been shelved. It makes sense though, as the UK has been modelled pretty extensively elsewhere and I can imagine South America and Asia being more popular options in fairly limited space.

Or go late in the evening, when it thins out a *lot* (we were there 1630-2230!).

Yes my one visit was in the evening (something like 1800 - 2000, nowhere near long enough but that's all we could squeeze in!) and it was busy enough that the place didn't feel like a museum and had some life to it but quiet enough that you could always get up close to the models and never had to wait very long to get your look if someone else was there already (and you didn't feel pressure to move on either!).
