Mystery Stations

The first thing I should note is that these are all in Scotland, and the screencaps are from the "British Railways: The Early Years" DVD.

I think this might be Glasgow Central, but I'm unsure. The track layout looks familiar, but I don't recognize the surroundings (this was filmed in the late 60s/early 70s). Can anyone confirm?



This one's obviously on the Cathcart Circle. My guess is Queens Park, but again, the surroundings are unfamiliar to me, even todays.



My first guess for this one was Kirkhill, but then a train rolled in with "Milingavie" on it's destination blind, so I'm thinking it's somewhere on the North Clyde Line. Anyone know where?



Now this is the big one. I'm drawing complete blanks on it. No ideas whatsoever.

That seems extremely random. None of them even look remotely like Haymarket.

the first picture is unmistakably Central - just over the bridge, with the branch off to Govan and the coast on the far side. You can even see the elegant tower of the old Coliseum (sic) at the bottom left.

Don't recognise the second.

The third one looks very familiar - but from long ago (I would travel in the front of the blue clyde electrics looking through the front window). I'm wondering if that scene has long gone? Maybe Anderson, all now re-developed into hotels and that horrid junction of the Expressway and the M8?

The last one looks like it could be Bowling station on the north Clyde, looking east - its still got a sort of harbour wall which looks like that and is still there, very visible from the train. Most of the old houses have gone, but those that do remain seem similar.

Beat me to it by just twenty minutes. Almost all the tenements and buildings in this view have now gone. Here's a modern day bird's eye view courtesy of Bing:

Yes, definitely Queen's Park, looking onto the station from Niddrie Road. For some reason, the Google Car missed a chunk of Niddrie Road, but here's almost the same view today. Very little has changed, all the tenements are still there:

That's one of the stations on the Cathcart Circle, like I said. The "Blue Trains" never went to Haymarket. The buildings look like those that surround many stations on the Circle.

Haymarket has 5 platforms (4 back then). The one in the image is an island platform station. Not Haymarket.

Sorry but no. Haymarket had 4 through tracks and is relatively straight. And didn't see the blue electrics.

Bowling. The shape of the harbour gives it away, as does the sidings curving off the main lines towards the left of the platform. The trackbeds of these are clearly visible in Google Earth.
