It depends, are you applying for Thameslink or Great Northern?

After online test, you'll be invited to Go ahead house in East Croydon to complete the assessment day, It consists of some basic tests like awareness, report writing if i remember correctly, all quite straightforward and there is a role play also.

Coronavirus is affecting recruitment, Im waiting on a new role in southern from Thameslink to become a conductor and my interview is being postponed.
Hiya,

I've applied for Great Northern but have completed the online assessment so awaiting result of that! Thanks again for the info! Will see how I get on with it all haha
Good luck with your interview!!!
That's one thing I often hear about the Railway, once you are in you can have the option to apply for other roles.....

Im unsure of the GN rosters, but I believe they do 4 x 8 hour shifts, then 1 x 7 hour in the week.

Oh absolutely, once you're in, it can be seen to be easier to move around, especially for me, I moved 2.5 hours away from my home station at the start of the year im now on the bottom end of the southern network rather than Thameslink North, but luckily I am able to apply internally for Southern so it works quite well.

The rosters doesn't sound bad at all which is good!! Yeah that is great the staff can apply internally:)
Will see how I progress and will probably be asking random questions as and when hahaha
