EMR HST’s mentioned above, will there be any other slam door services still around past May? I heard scotrail had the fife circle, one or two in Wales and the Night Riviera. Am I missing any or is that it? It’s a shame they are all going, they really were iconic. Do any other countries still operate slam door trains I wonder.

Already proven not true. Mk2s and Mk3s are still in service complete with slam doors. The OP even mentioned Mk3s
To be fair, I think in the context of that article it is only about the Southern TOC’s last slam door train, rather than the last one on the entire network. Perhaps the author should have wrote “their last” rather than “the last”...

Think you've misunderstood, that's referring to unlocked doors. Obviously slam doors have operated much later than that, HSTs were operating and still are with locking slam doors.

Tfw still has the 37s and MK.2s on the Rhymney line or has that been withdrawn with this reduced service?

The Gerald likewise is still Mk.3 following delays getting the Mk.4s into service

The 37s and Mk2s have gone back to 150 now is my understanding.

Well you would expect the EMR(EX LNER) HST's to be the final Daytime Slam Door stock but of course in the current situation who knows. The Scotrail Loco Hauled is supposed to finish in May, I think a tender has gone for later in the year but PRM compliant stock is required so Slam Door stock would seem unlikely. The Welsh 67's are not currently running and presumably wont be until something like a normal timetable returns, and course they are due to go the MK4's at some point. I suspect the government wont be keen to dish out any more PRM exemptions beyond this year.

Sorry I wasn't clear with my post (last slam door 26-Nov-05), I was referring to the last slam door service WITHOUT central door locking.

And if the Hitachi trains aren’t ready by then? It’s likely there’ll be a short extension to the exemption (another 3 months perhaps) otherwise there’ll be services that can’t run.
The Hitachi units arent replacing the HSTs

Don't forget the TGS coaches on the HST's - sit in the same coach and you might just hear the last remaining door slam :)!

Ex Anglia Mark 3s, and yes still slam door.
Chilterns set had a derogation until June 30th iirc. Is this the same for the Anglia ones? Is this temporary whilst the Chiltern set is fitted with power doors or more permanent?

There’s no further power door fitment in line for Chiltern. I haven’t seen anything but there will need to be a further dispensation for the replacement vehicles as the dispensation is by vehicle number.

I guess that will be the last daytime slam door then.

MK4's would be a better alternative from a PRM viewpoint but presumably more work would be required in converting the DVT to work with the 68's

Did the 121032 on the Cardiff bay shuttle keep its slam doors without locking. I think that was withdrawn about 2013

This would have had Central Door Locking, I believe after the last Southern slammers were withdrawn all remaining slam door trains apart from charter stock would have central locking. The Chiltern Bubble and the Lymington Cigs had this of course too.

This photo from 2009 (not mine) seems to show CDL as signified by the light on the side of the train just below the roof about two thirds of the way down.

The last XC slam doors went for conversion to sliding doors just before new years - all their Mk3s are now sliding doors

If you look closely enough you can see the metal plates for the CDL systems below the doors
