FGW 57/3 diagrams

Hi all

Friday 57304 had a failure and today the diagrams were covered by a 150. Anyone know whats happening with them and if they are back out this week and what locos are appearing on them

Also it looks like the 67 set failed last Friday too. As I saw a report on the FGW live updates that the 1247 Paignton-Cardiff would be 2 carriages instead of 4.

67017 failed on 2C67 08:00 Cardiff - Paignton by Barton Hill. Set went into BRI then 150239 took over, went to Paignton and back where the 67s were waiting to take over again from Bristol at 1521.

Hmmm, hopefully just a blip, the 57/3s have been relatively persistant perfomers over the past few months, a far cry from the dark days of December-February when it was looking very dire indeed for a while.

Any news on when the loco hauled stuff is supposed to be ending. Also, as an aside, read in Rail Express that FGW were looking at running a third loco hauled (1x 67) service from Brisol-Penzance return during the Summer, I take it that died a quick death.

was going to run brisol penzance satrday only with weymouth set and weymouth would become a 150 diamgram.

Yeah friday was a bad day for loco hauled stock diagrams we will have to see if they are back out today

Just read on gen site that 57's only on 1616 off taunton any one know any more and if so what 57's are working this week

57304 failed again on Thursday, having been fixed at Cardiff on Wednesday. 66721 was in use with 57305 yesterday.

1616 ex Taunton caped. Something to do with the tyres on the brake, doors fooked, no aircon. It's a complete shamble :roll:

As for 3rd diagram. Looks likely....

Bris - PZ. PZ - EXD (extended to Taunton I believe on a Friday). One loco. Shunt released at PZ.

Oh, missed a bit of your post. Should be Oct - December it ends. Probably the latter.

57304 failed again on Thursday, having been fixed at Cardiff on Wednesday. 66671 was in use with 57305 yesterday.

66671?,did'nt realise the re-geared ones had got that numerous?

Yes due to the 1616 from Taunton being caped. See my posting above for gen.

shame I couldn't do the 66 on it had to work. heard from gbrf driver that was going to gbrf first plan top and tailed 66's. now maybe they would like to try that. shame the 57's have had a bad week, i think 304 might be going fingers crossed for 301 to come down

I'm heading over next Friday morning to get in position for the Penzance 37 trip the following day, likewise I would just be delighted if 301, or indeed 311 made an appearance.

Hmph 304 is one of my last two, went for it on Wednesday only to get bowled out at Bristol by the train being cancelled. Did think about trying again on Thursday, but decided against it due to the potential for another farce - should have gone; at least I would have scored 66721.

yep same here. You'll have to see if 304 gets fixed up and is out next week, but i would imagine something elese might be on it

305 and 309 I believe.

it was 305 and 309 and good old 67017/016 out as well. so nothing new for this week. roll on saturday with the four diesel tours to penzance

57303 took over from 305 today, 309 still the other loco.

Edit 26th June: 57303 lasted long, its been replaced by 66402 today!
