Class 332 and 360/2 will be removed from serving Heathrow once Class 345 and 387 taken over Elizabeth line and HX respectively. I wondered what other usages they can be cascaded to by the time they leave Heathrow? My personal opinion is 332s can be cascaded to ROG for Orion Logistics Work and 360/2 can be cascaded to EMR in case of extra capacity in London St Pancras-Corby Route once its electrification.

There was talk of the Heathrow Express units simply going for scrap as they have no fitment for TPWS so can't really be used outside of Great Western land.

Perhaps if that was all that was wrong with them then they could have been fitted with the system and have a future elsewhere. It is, after all, quite a simple retrofit using the same traction and braking interfaces as the AWS, which was fitted from new, and there's a design that could be followed from the similar class 333s which clearly have TPWS today. The HEX trains have been troublesome in recent years however and are probably fairly worn out after so much intensive high speed use shuttling back and forth to the airport. They would be difficult to retrofit with ETCS, one of the reasons no doubt leading to their planned displacement from airport duties. The 387s that will replace them were already specced as 'ETCS ready' so that has been a comparatively easy modification.

I doubt the 332s have much future other than spares donors for 333s. The 360s are just as worn out as the 332s I believe, but sending them to EMR and either removing a coach or running them as 10-coach sets would be sensible.

There was discussion at one point that the 360s might find use in Bangkok alongside similar units.

They don't have long left in UK service. There are enough 360/1s for EMR's needs to match the number they can actually use.

The interiors of the 360/2 fleet are interesting at the moment - 360205 has examples of SWT, Greater Anglia and Heathrow Connect moquette on the seats.

Oh, that's interesting. Are there any photos of it?

Siemens are probably using any seat bases they have, not much point ordering new ones for a fleet which isn't far off a refurbishment which will replace the seats.

You're thinking of the 360/1s - the 360/2s are the Heathrow ones and aren't being transferred.

Easy to get confused :) the 360/2s have been replaced though haven't the or are they still awaiting replacement?

345s aren't yet running to Heathrow in service but it is rumoured to not be far away - once that is resolved the 360/2s can be released.

It's not exactly hard to take one out.
As has been said elsewhere the Thai fleet is 5 x 3-car and 4 x 4-car. If the Heathrow fleet were to move, they could have a standard fleet of 14 x 4-car.
