Just for fun really, what members would you nominate for an award/ buy a pint for, can be for a helpful post, legendary post, funny post ect ect

Matt:- Always been helpfull to me when it comes down to planning a day somewhere, always helped with times and traction info

Yorkie for some of the laughs, good member top bloke, was funny on the first red dot day with the "reserved" cards

Geezertronic bloody legendary posts, one liners that just crack me up top bloke

OldTimer really enjoy reading all his posts and stories, would happily buy his book if he ever made one

oh and

All the members ive met: mojo, yorkie, Asylumxl, ChrisTheRef, VirginTrainFreak and all the others for the laughs and good times on meets

As I say this threads just for abit of fun, inspired by that YREA award thread, and I realised theres not a thanks thread for members to thank others for help ect

Who would I award. HMMM.

I guess if I had to award some people. (as no one here knows me and no one here has actually met me! I'm a relatively silent member and I really just throw in a comment every so often... )

It would have to be all of the people who helped me when I first joined/started posting on the forums and answered my silly questions! haha.

Also I'd have to award those who make this forum worth reading:

The debates, (essay posters!), the funny comments I've seen (I think it was mumrar that sticks out with his tornado comment, don't quote me on that though!)

And those who have made my stay fun and ... enlightening? (those who have added to my knowledge of the railways )

OldTimer - we are pretty much diametrically opposed politically, and I've had a good few debates with him, but he sticks to his guns and much more importantly, he knows his stuff and can back it up.

I'm not going to pick out individuals at the risk of overlooking others. But I WILL pick out what I admire in posts on here, based on what I've seen and appreciated, and what I disregard, based laregely on what has been said about those working in the industry by those that do not.

I admire anyone who takes the time to type out any detailled or complex understanding they have, in terms which the ordinary person will understand and appreciate.
I admire their willingness to give their understanding and experience to others.
I admire kindness towards those with a genuine wish to learn.

I disregard the uninformed, sensationalist and unresearched speculations, guessing and wishing which isn't based in reality.
I disregard rudeness and unkindness, especially when its turned towards professionals, and even more so when it challenges safety.
I disregard the display of a bad social "attitude" towards professionals

And a personal view, which I realise others not share with me, I ignore chat about loco numbers, paint schemes or liveries, and

I'd just like to say that I believe the vast majority of members on this forum should pat themselves on the back as they make it an informative, interesting and diverse place to chat and the like. I remarked just the other day to someone that I consider this forum to be streets ahead of the others I looked at before I joined. Special mention to the staff and mods also for the running of the forum behind the scenes also. Thanks folks.

The award has to go to the Mojo, Ivo and VirginTrainFreak (37401 was at New Street, usually they're joined at the anus) for inadvertently causing the latter member (VirginTrainFreak) to get hit in the head by a Pendolino door at Birmingham International...

Shhh! Still not sure how we pulled that off, from you guys being initially prevented from boarding the train due to overcrowding to getting table seats...

Anyway thanks for the mentions, but there are loads of people who provide excellent travel advice and I'm just one of a great team we have here, some of whom have the patience to go into issues in far more detail than me (particularly the Routeing Guide) and all who contribute to that section make us the best place for advice and you're all an important part of that!

All the people who have gone on the cycle rides have been great too, including some who constantly suffer failed bikes & occasionally fall off, but keep going and keep smiling! Some of the things people have done to get bikes in position (e.g. driving vans around, positioning moves in cars etc) and help others out on the rides has been most commendable. There are hundreds of miles of disused lines that people literally died to build, and to be able to explore them with other members of this forum is most enjoyable, thanks to you all.

Thanks to people who provide 'gen', especially with regards to Grand Central HSTs etc, to prevent wasted journeys.

Also thanks to everyone who has attended any of the meets I've attended, for making them all fun.

And the people who keep the site going, not just mods/admins but people who make excellent, informative posts.

I'm not going to mention any names, sorry

Yes indeed many thanks to GNERman and yourself yorkie for the gen over the last week that let me plan and then enjoy a very pleasent trip on a GC HST today (actually looking at the clock yesterday now). Might I just say the valentia's were in tremendous form!

I would like to thank most if not all of you for your help, courtesy and general banter about the railways and more. But in particular I would like to give credit to...

• Yorkie - always on hand to give specific information when I needed it, and for showing me how to obtain said information easily
• Mojo - showing me where I was going wrong with night photography, and for the fine running of this forum (with others obviously)
• Greenback - One word... Cymraeg. Also providing me with many-a-laugh
• 4SRKT - "settling" me when I first turned up five months ago, and for keeping me on my toes with the various quizzes
