I stopped watching halfway through. Given it a redflag & reported it. Its horrific. Why this idiot wanted to film & post this on youtube is anyones guess. The dogs filmed been hit were the final straw.

OK not nice but it does publish the lengths that those who go hunting go to for their 'sport'. The person who published it has done the right thing and is not an idiot. Maybe a 'over 18' warning should be given???

Perhaps so we can all see what the posh snob scumbags are like? They're scum, pure and simple. And this video shows what they behave like.

Ok. I may have over reacted. Was just shocked at the content just like everyone else. He probably is right to film. The footage of the dog just lying there with bits missing just after been run over by the 150 upset me the most. Not nice. So yes looking back, he probably is right to film & its the fox hunters who are are the idiots, highlighting the stupid risks some of them take.

This reply is after sleeping on it & realising what the video is all about. I wont be watching the 2nd half of the video.

It turned my stomach watching the dog fry, be chopped up by a 150, a dead horse being dragged onto a lorry, and a hunt member threatening to kill someone who ran over his horse because he was in the road, round a blind corner.

Absolutely disgusting.

I've never understood the idea of hunting for "sport" and never will do. It must take a very strange and wierd sort of person to dress themselves up like they do and take pleasure in watching another animal being ripped apart by dogs that have intentionally been left hungry.

I understand that there is a need to perform culls but these are normally carried out in a humane manner and so they should be since we are in the 21st Century now :|

just goes to show what barbarians these fox hunters are, foxes may be considered pests but this is not pest control, just a bunch of sick thugs posing as middle class sportsmen.

Sorry about that. Sadly this is the sort of things that the hunters uses to think they could get away with, and in some cases still do (if their dogs "accidently" pick up the trail of a real fox). When I first watched it I was disgusted not only for the treatment of the animals, but also for the effect on the railways. Consider those poor dogs frying on the third rail. That's now blocking the whole line in both direction causing delays. The CIG has oviously picked bits up in it's shoe gear which might be damaged, I can't see it staying in service. Power will need to be shut off to clear up the mess. That's a big cost to the railways. There are then all the poor staff who are involved with cleaning the mess up, not a nice thing. It would be nice to think that any getting caught trespassing would have the book thrown at them, perhaps even action to recover the costs of delays, but of cource the judges are most likely to be pro hunt themselves. The hunters think it's fine "we just follow the fox". They use the same excuse when they trespass on other farmer lands or even into residential areas, damaging crops, attacking animals (both livestock and pets) and causing chaos.

If anyone is interested in making sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again there is a campaign set up by Brian May of Queen to keep the ban in place. This sort of thing highlights why it goes beyond a simple animal rights issue for tree hugging hippies (not that they are wrong, it is cruel too) but does have a much wider effect, even on those who are apathetic to the main issue. The main site is here, they are also on Facebook http://www.save-me.org.uk/

But this will start a debate, why have you put it up on rail forums, the film is years old and must have been put on u tube by sabs.

Why have I put it on railforums. Did you not see the trains, the people tresspassing on the railways? This was originally shown to me by my girlfriend who is very anti-hunt and it disgusted me both for the cruelty but also for the effect on the railways. How much did that incident with the CIG cost? Thousands I expect, all for these people to get their barbaric thrills. Say what you want about hunting, an animal rights issue, a countryside issue, but when they cross the boundary onto railway property it becomes a railway issue and that's why I posted it on a railway forum!

Yes, this is an old video, this sort of thing doesn't happen much these days because hunting with hounds is currently banned. The Countryside Alliance has campaigned ever since to overturn the ban and in the new government they have found allies and there is to be a free vote on the issue. If the CA and the Government get their way these scenes could be once again coming to a railway line (or road) near you.

Try telling that to the Countryside Alliance, the way they go on it's the biggest issue the country has ever faced, and sadly they have the ear of those in power.

I think some of their aim is to use the current problems to get it pushed through as people do have bigger things to worry about so it can just quietly slip by without anyone really noticing. The apathy to the issue is noticable by the replies many anti-hunt campaigners have recieved from their Conservative MPs, just a copy of the line from party HQ. This is why people are trying to highlight the bigger issues involved. Yes the economy needs sorting, but trains being delayed because hunts feel that they can go anywhere, even onto live railway lines, does more harm to the economy than good. So does clearing up the mess from another road accident they have caused. Then again, many hunters are probably the ancestors of those who objected to the railways going through their land, spoiling their views and disrupting their hunting anyway, and the less of the peasents in their horseless carriages the better.

Are they exempt from trespassing on the railway?

Of course not.

It is a criminal offence (note, criminal, not civil) to trespass on a railway and no one has exemption from it unless going about their official railway duties or have permission.

They seem to think they are exempt, as they think they are exempt from tresspassing on other land. They just go where the fox goes.

Drag hunting is still legal, which is where they will chase after an artificial "fox", usually dragged (hence the term) by a person of a quadbike. Many will use a real dead fox which means that the hounds may convieniently pick up the trail of a real live fox and convieniently follow it and convieniently have shredded it before the huntsmen catch up and can call them off. Some will just go out on "training" runs which again convieniently pick up the trail of a real fox. Some though will use alternative scents such as aniseed which seriously reduced the chance of "accidently" following an actual fox. Some hunts are switching to using bloodhounds which will track a person. Sadly the current law does not allow chavs to be hunted with dogs, but most acknowledge it's not perfect and there is room for improvement. The advantage of drag hunting, beyond the fact that nothing is killed, is that the routes can be planned and controlled, no tresspass. For some reason though the pro-hunt people don't feel drag hunting is the same, although they arn't in it for the kill, just the socialisation and the riding.

Though the video was horrible, my overriding feeling watching the railway scenes was respect, respect for the the employees of the Railway and Constables of the British Transport Police who have to attend and clean up incidents like these. When you consider that these people also have to deal with Humans in this condition, you can't not respect what they have to deal with.

Indeed it does not!!:D In any case, what do the hunters do now? Do they still hold mock hunts?

IIRC, there's a loophole which means that hunts are still allowed if you have a bird of prey that kills the fox, and not the dogs (can't remember if it's still the case).

There was a good story about that a while back, with someone who borrowed a rather expensive bird for this, but then it went a bit wrong when the dogs killed the bird.
Oops

Such a vile "sport" that in my opinion has no buisness anywhere in a civilised world!
