Although not Stagecoach related, worth mentioning a development here in Fife that involves vehicles visiting the North West. Currently, MMoffat and Williamson, of St Fort near Wormit, runs its own Saturday express bus to Blackpool, and also provides coaches, about three, for Blackpool Promotions, who provide package holidays in the town. This week, M&W have lost the Blackpool promotions work to Earnside, Glenfarg, meaning that Earnside have all the contracts now for Central Scotland, requiring about six coaches. So, in 2011, M&W buses will not be appearing in Blackpool on Blackpool promotions work.

M&W have lost a lot of contract work here in Fife to Stagecoach Fife and Stagecoach Rennies this week as well.

It's nice to see that Stagecoach, are benefitting from other operators misfortune.
Do we know if Moffat & Williamson, are to continue with their Saturday express service to Blackpool or if this too is going to pass to Stagecoach.
As rosswatson says it is a shame, as they use to have a very good reputation.

The Saturday express service is a sole venture by Moffat and Williamson, and so presumably in 2011 will carry on regardless. As things stand, any Glenton tour work or David Urquhart travel work undertaken by Moffat and Williamson will carry on as well. It's just the Blackpool promotions work that the firm has lost, which is appropriate for this thread.

Further checking out has actually confirmed that Earnside has won back the work it lost to Moffat and Williamson in 2005. Earnside had 6 coaches work, but M&W took half that during tendering. So, it's all back with Earnside again.

I take it, the contract work that M&W, have lost to Stagecoach is mainly schools.
As a former Transport Manager, whilst schools work provide regular work for the vehicles, it can also be a real pain when it comes to other work (ie Private Hires), as you need to ensure that the vehicles are available for the regular contracted work.

Oh well,I suppose thats an end to a decent service from Blackpool on an evening, no more decent low floor or small step entrance buses - just the smelly ageing things that KLCH have to offer - along with the nice polite, smartly dressed staff (not - trakie and trainers last time I used them) staff. What must LCC have been thinking to give them the contract!!!

I think KLCH have the potential to be a lot better then they are. They just need to get their act together. The Uniform is poor the livery is poor and their vehicles are generally poor. It all boils down to one thing...finance. They can't get their act together if they don't have the money to do it and I get the impression that is always the problem with KLCH.

Indeed!

Apparently one of Oxfords new Hybrids was seen heading that way yesterday so delivery has started. I assume Manchester will get there's when Oxfords have all been delivered. I have no idea what they will displace but I would guess that Manc will get rid of more of the old stuff off Magic Bus. Not SCNW but thought it may be worth mentioning especially as apparently it will be the first vehicle to be numbered in the 12000 series.

Also has 14245 been transferred to KL yet?

Not sure about 14245 Dallamlad. I expect it is there though.

The hybrids won't be the first in the 12xxx series - Routemasters are numbered in that series.

19045... that would have been me then driving as its the only 68 yesterday it did! Spends most of the day on Longridge's and drops on to a 68 for peak, a inbound 68 takes its slot on the Longridges.
19031 was repainted about 2 months ago, was VOR for a while with accident damage.
