Its all vehicles.... when inspectors are waiting for stock to turn up its deffo the buses. There short in all types..

It seems a mistake has taken place on the printed timetables and with the online version of the new 15 timetable Crieff to Perth. How someone managed to forget to put in the school day journey at 9am to Perth I will never know.

When I was reading it I was thinking there couldn't possibly be a two hour wait between 8 and 10 for the next bus.

Although with these changes it wouldn't actually surprise me...

Still numerous cancellation of buses in and around the dunfermline area hard to believe going into the third week of not haveing enough buses that they haven't sourced extra buses from somewhere to solve this problem!

Oh I never new that lol joking aside the school contracts obviously getting prioritised over the normal timetables not sure how many buses they are short of breakdowns will make situation even worse.

They're contracted to operate those services so yes, they will take priority.

I notice that Perth have got back some of their original Goldline E300s.

27529 and 27530 both out on the Letham/Tulloch this morning.

Just seen what I think was 36418 in Dunfermline as well, do we know how many of these buses there are?

It would seem 4 buses have been drafted in 36418 36420 36421 and 36423? where have 36419 & 36422 gotten to? However even with these 4 extra buses the depot is STILL short. It looks like 6-10 buses are off the road, from Versa to deckers...

Also the allocation seems all over the place, 2 of the 260XX buses on the 747 and 26168 and 26169 have been on the 3 all day!

Time to get rid of the Versas hopefully!

Ah that explains it. So it doesn't matter that local passengers are frozen!

Perth is just as bad for freezing cold buses. There's times where it's actually warmer outside then it is on the bus.

I think East Scotland in certain areas needs a good bloody shake up.

Heaters on an ADL bus?

That'll be the "air-chill", which never actually works anyway. Too cold in winter, far too hot in summer. Unless, of course, the bus is 13042 or 13056, both of which have it jammed onto hot.

From what I've found, standard ADL E400s are the worst "local" buses for heat.

I have had the delight of Hot air on those E200MMCs on the left hand side, there are rather nice. I don't know why it's gotten bad, since 2016 the amount of new routes or the reviseal of cuts isn't that much overall, its enough to bring it back from the blink But nothing to say there wasting alot of money. They making a killing on the express network. There has been talk upto 15 new coaches are coming this year?

Yeh they have definitely takeing there eye of the ball and now putting most of the money into express routes where there makeing the big bucks and winning awards and forgetting local routes and the shortages of buses in Dunfermline should have been dealt with weeks ago.

Yet most days you will see two deckers on the X27, Decker on x60 and 2 E300 on the x61. You can see this on the tracker.

That's the problem, the majority of investment has been on the express routes, albeit that's where the money is (mind you the fares are better value)

Certainly in Dunfermline it's very much a sticky plaster approach with 13 year old Versas and 15 year old solos operating the town routes. Was the plan to run these vehicles to that age or should they have been retired long ago?

If buses are looked after, then there is no problem running them for 15 - 20 years. Look at the PS there could have carried on for much longer and many still do. ( Many people on here are like why is X type being withdrawn there still good buses at 20 years old. ) Simple fact is Versas are crap and what doesn;t help is places like Dunfermline, kirkcaldy and even parts of Glenrothes are hilly, that adds to the workload.
