Cambridge to Grimsby via Spalding, Sleaford, Boston, Mablethorpe and Louth really connecting Lincolnshire together. I would have a link from Louth to Lincoln as well.

My Route would be:
Manchester Piccadilly - Doncaster - Lincoln - King's Lynn - Norwich - Ipswich - Stansted Airport - Heathrow Airport - Cardiff Central.

Obviously it is a fantasy thread but I just wonder what ideas you would have if you were in control of the railways
That's a station, not a line, if I am not mistaken?

I think its a joke as there is game on the forum called Mornington Crescent where you travel to different random stations across the country. I don't understand the game at all but I think thats what it is.

Agree strongly — but then I think that ought to be the route of HS2.

1) New GC gauge freight line from the Channel tunnel to Dagenham and around London to follow the M1 north. Then run alongside the MML to Chesterfield and around Sheffield before crossing under the Pennines in a new alignment (not Woodhead, that's too much of a dog leg) and connecting with a gauge enhanced Stalybridge - Victoria - Chat Moss line to reach Liverpool docks. Branches for further GC running for various key ports and distribution centres. The main aim being to provide a regular frequency lorry carrying service.
2) 250 km/h line from a new station by Liverpool Lime Street running alongside the Chat Moss line to connect with HS2.
3) Manchester HS2 tunnel realigned to run into an East-West station under Piccadilly and then out to a new station at Bradford Broomfields. Then to Leeds and back onto HS2 to York where HS tracks are extended all of the way through the station before climbing onto a viaduct to pass over the various junctions before descending back down to take up the centre tracks in the four track alignment once slower trains have been able to access the outer tracks.
4) Rebuild of Northallerton station with platforms on outer loops and fast tracks left unplatformed, Four tracking continues to the Leamside line all of the way into Newcastle via Washington. Newcastle Central is 'pruned' to only have six long through platforms in the main triple shed area with Leamside HS services taking up the southern two platforms.
5) 350 km/h line from Goldborne junction to a delta junction aroundabout Carstairs splitting to Euro Central & Glasgow Central / Edinburgh Haymarket & Waverley.
6) Edinburgh Haymarket to a station under Edinburgh airport and then under the Forth before following the M90 to Perth and a branch onto the Perth - Aberdeen line.
7) Paddington to Heathrow to Reading HSL. Continuing to Bristol Parkway and under the Severn to Cardiff.
8) Waterloo to Southampton with branches also to Salisbury, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.
9) Cambridge - Stansted - Canary Wharf - Croydon - Gatwick - Brighton.

No it isn't. HS2 is London to Golborne, with branches to Birmingham and Manchester (and does the 230 km/h of the Manchester branch even count as high speed by UIC standards?). If it ever gets built, there will be another long branch to just north of Church Fenton, with a sub-branch to Leeds. It's a recreation of the trunk-and-branch pattern of the ECML and WCML.

My ideas: Part 1/? (Yes, there are possibly multiple parts, sorry)

A few new stations:
- Liverpool John Lennon Airport Station: Act's as an airport station, obvious in it's name. It's connected by a spur line connecting Liverpool South Parkway, Warrington Line, The line towards Crewe, and another line connecting Lea Green (Possibly with an intermediate station?)
- St Helens Queen Street Interchange Station: Built on the site of Earlstown Station, this station act's as a major interchange for other railways (a bit like Crewe or Preston stations). Transfers at this station work like an Airport but without Airport-Like security and shuttle buses. Travelator's are provided for quick and easy access between platforms and exits and a shopping area including a large waiting area is provided (with a large destination board!).
- John Lennon Airport - St Helens Queen Street - Wigan North Western - Preston - Lancaster - Oxenholme/Penrith - Carlisle - Glasgow/Edinburgh
- John Lennon Airport - St Helens Queen Street - Manchester Piccadilly - Stockport - Sheffield - Chesterfield - Derby - East Midlands Parkway - Loughbrough - Leicester - Melton Mowbray - Oakham - Stamford - Peterborough - March - Ely - Cambridge -Stanstead Airport
- Liverpool Lime Street - Edge hill - Mossley Hill - West Allerton - Liverpool South Parkway - John Lennon Airport
- Liverpool Lime Street - St Helens Queen Street - Manchester Piccadilly (Express Shuttle)
- Birmingham New Street - Birmingham International - Coventry - Rugby - Milton Keynes Central - Watford Junction - London Euston (Service is used to reduce the time between Birmingham and London on LNWR services. Does a through service to Liverpool as usual for every LNWR regional service.)
- A new line connecting Liverpool Lime Street with Liverpool James street for trains to go to the Wirral (but not just yet! I will explain that in the next part!).

I actually just found out that Earlestown is in St Helens and not Liverpool. Sorry! I kinda get confused of where Liverpool end's so that's probably why i accidentally named it that way. I'll rename the station to 'St. Helens Queen street Interchange' shortly!
PTR444- i'm admiring your 'logo' map on your profile/ box (what is that called??) and wondering while squinting where it's from- can you direct me to an original; does it enlarge? I'm thinking it's a kind of stylised Britain rail routes map with Cornwall bottom left and Scotland in some fashion up top- but it is small, and my eyes are not so good ...
Regarding your 'Main line' that's some 'withered leg'.
