Ah yes, that's a reference to the person who also believes that London-Scotland trains on the ECML are "nearly empty" between Edinburgh and NewcastleWhen I asked which service he boarded or what evidence he had, I failed to get a response.
To his defence though the only two that I travelled on a ECML (it was GNER at the time) at about 12:30 and it was fairly quiet until newcastle, although it wasn't much busier until york and even then it wasn't full up (i.e. all seats full and standing like on the WMCL)
The second time - this time NXEC the 10:20am (approx) from Haymarket (Train came from Glasgow Central), but I got off at Newcastle, and that was fairly empty, and also the same with the return Cross Country Voyager (but then that was at about 18:30-40 though!, I can't remember the exact time though)
but then I'm guessing these were probably the "quieter" times of the day?
