Cancelled Manchester Victoria - Kirkby train - 25/02/20

This service was cancelled again this morning ..
However an interesting reason for cancellation on realtime trains;

Not sure how much slower you could actually get on that line/service ...

I don't quite get why RTT doesn't use the list here:

MS Planned underpowered or shortformed service and or vehicle, incl. exam set swaps ALOC STOCK

Could the "shortformed" be the issue, namely that it was going to split from a 4-car working elsewhere that was 2 short? It's a 75mph diagram anyway so they don't have anything slower!

This train comes from Newton Heath depot at 06:50 to form the service .. so I guess it wouldn't be "shortformed". Also it was showing as cancelled when I awoke at 0615 .. so whatever the issue was .. it was known well in advance.

The slower comment made me chuckle though ..

It was same yesterday as well with the 0736 and return working cancelled as well. Again total incompetence by northern and disregard to its passengers. It has them and has a dispensation to end may 2020. But moved to heaton T&R.S.M.D. again involving the Pacers. 8 Pacers got sent to warm store last weekend. 15th February. Again northern should have kept them and used one off these. Again this stupid bad management running continues. They still above all off this have 2 spare at newton Heath surely use one.

Slower means same excuse used on Calder valley lines now includes the kirkbys other than the 0533 to kirkby and return. Ie 142 don't want to use a 142 anymore even with a prm unit. So iff 142 only available they cancelled it. Even still cleared ie with a prm unit. Ie dispensation there is no mention off booked services only.

It's just a stock allocation code, covering all sorts of related issues. RTT sometimes tries to be clever but unfortunately not really making sense.
