HEx, still free in Heathrow area?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Some years ago at least, HEx allowed free travel on their trains between T123 and T4. Just basically wondering if they do the same thing now but to T5 instead.

Sad as it is, I'm dying to scoop a couple of 332s in, even if it's just on that bit. Have done the rest of the line before, but I didn't record which ones I did!

Yes, travel between Heathrow Central (T123) and both T4 and T5 is completely free of charge.

It does on HEx, but you need to complete an online form with a few details (name and email address) and wait for it to connect you. This can take a few minutes to authorise, and remember you only have 4 minutes to do so!

WiFi is not available on the 360s to T4 though.

Don't Blame Them Either - The prices for tickets on these services are high so that would equal a nice bit of commission!

Not sure if they're on the usual 5ish%, & can't remember the machine but would have thought it is as would sell add-on tickets across National rail.

No, HEx staff working on trains and ticket offices are not on commission at all. The only staff that are those who work in arrivals, selling tickets to recently arrived passengers.

The ticket machines used are made by Casio. Google 'CASIO’s IT-3100' and it's something that looks similar. All that is sold on trains is singles / returns.

No, HEx staff working on trains and ticket offices are not on commission at all. The only staff that are those who work in arrivals, selling tickets to recently arrived passengers.

It might be desperate, but worth doing once or twice just to get the lines in the book! Especially considering the huge ching to do less than 15 miles!

You could, but the Mobile Sales Assistants (those selling tickets in arrivals) earn considerably less than the rest of the frontline staff and I don't think the commission rate is that good to top up your earnings.

Yes, that's pretty similar to what we use (different colours and no weird plastic crossbar on the top of it)!

I think commission would be difficult to implement at HEx as all frontline staff are required to rotate in ticket office, platform and train duties. If the role was commission based then staff would be fighting to get in the ticket offices and trying to get people working in the other locations would be problematic.
That said, top sellers do get some incentives from selling carnets and First Class tickets and all staff benefit from a bonus payout once a year if HEx meets or exceeds earnings targets set by BAA.
